This is a prime example of the fact that regardless of what the car should pull in the open market from experienced, informed buyers, there's always an idiot out there that is clueless and will pay too much.
What the??? Because somebody really likes a particular car and they are willing to pay a little more for it rather than miss out and spend another year or 2 looking for a different one they are idiots??? Personally, I think it is much more stupid to pass up a car you really like and spend another year looking for just the right one to save $1000. A car, ANY car is worth what someone is willing to pay and that doesn't make that person stupid.....sometimes it is better to be "uninformed"....if you aren't buying a car as an investment or basic transportation then you are buying it based on emotions and if a particular car "moves you" then anything short of a huge ripoff (meaning $15k for a $5 car) doesn't matter.

$4000 is a joke and the kind of insult you'd expect from a used car salesman.....then he'd throw a big sign on it for $7,900 and put it in his front lot. With the looks I get sometimes toward my crappy old slow '84 you'd think I had a new Z06 and those people would think I was the idiot if I put a "for sale - $4,000" sign on it. People that pay $7000 for a nice car they really like aren't idiots just because a car dealer or some book says it should be worth $4000.
I guess I missed if anyone said this, but there is nothing wrong with listing a car for a little more then you think you will get out of it, list it for the $8k someone will come along who thinks it is worth 8.5k and ask if you'd be willing to settle for 7k. This is the used car business, everyone barters. Whatever you do don't list it for $4,000. Someone will buy it for that much, but you can get more.
Nothing gets me going more then someone who looks up a price in KBB decides their car is in "excellent" condition and refuses to budge on that price. I've always bought used cars, I probably always will buy used cars, and I'm sorry I've never seen a used car that I didn't need to do something to.

Hey Chief, you want to see a $4,000 84,look at the post ................... .New owner of an 84.Thats a $4,000 car.So in your post above,if hes patiant,he might be able to screw somebody over? You do alot of business on E-bay?
This an excellent condition car with only 41,000 miles. It's worth a lot more than $4000. Probably could get twice that and maybe more if you find the right buyer.
