Default 84 Vette Value

Does anyone have an idea what my car would be worth? It is an all original, unmolested 84 Corvette. It has 41k miles. It is a 9 out of 10 car. I still havent mastered pictures yet, so to view pics see my thread titled "my 84". Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thats going to be a tough sell with the the 84 reputation, not helped by some of the misinformed here. The fact is if the car is clean, somebody will see it,drive it and its sold.Ive seen the pictures in another post and the car looks nice.Id say maybe $8000.

I attended the Mecum Bloomington Gold auction last week and here is what I wrote down on some of the 84s that went through:
84 silver, A4 in good shape. Sold $5,250.
84 black custom with hole in hood and scoop. Built motor and nicely done for competition or street.. No sale. Bid up to $21,000 but did not meet reserve.
84 red, A4, faded paint, had to be pushed onto the floor. Sold for $1,750.
As a group the C4s were getting few bids and most of them were low. Not much respect for us out there in Corvette land. The ZR1s and Grand Sports were the exception.

These cars are worth nothing more than the love you have for them.
I will never get what I have put into it,but I don't care.It's mine,and I love it!

It's been said a million times, so let's make it a million and one...

It's worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. If somebody has an affinity for that particular year, color, etc, they may be willing to pay a premium for it. Conversely, if few people are looking for that particular car, it may not bring much at all.

"Value" only matters one time....when you're trying to sell it. If you're really curious as to what it's worth, put it on eBay.

You should get used to owning your corvette.

Love the corvette.

Keep the corvette.

But if you want to sell the corvette for a decent price. . . Don't get in a hurry.

The guy; I bought mine from, had been trying to sell it for over a year, before he found a stooge "like me", to buy it.

Offering her $1,000 would be down right insulting. As i have often said to many Corvette owners give their cars away.Of course if you can find someone who knows little about Corvette values you can make a killing. My friend picked up a 84 in simular condition but with better paint and interior then the one mentioned. This car sat outside for seven years with a car cover on it under a tree. After a wax job, tune up and cleaning he now is asking $6,500. THis was just a money maker for him.If you can find someone giving away their Corvette under $4,000 buy it.

This is a prime example of the fact that regardless of what the car should pull in the open market from experienced, informed buyers, there's always an idiot out there that is clueless and will pay too much.

You car is much closer to the $4k guess than the $8k one. However, if you are very patient, you will eventually get lucky with a first-time buyer who didnt do his homework. Just dont be in a hurry.

I inherited my dads 84 coupe. Black ext, saddle cloth int, sports seats, Z51, 4+3 (which works very well thankyou) all the goodies from the factory, all box stock, just turned over 39K on the ODO. Always garaged, never smoked in. Runs real sweet; crossfire L83 and all. Wouldn't sell it for the world! It's a keeper Even though I prefer Italian sports cars. He had it insured with state farm for $10,000.

Looked through the Rapid City S.D. paper and found these for examples to compare.

85 coupe, 70K mi. $8750. no other description.

85 coupe, 89K mi. $6500. Described as fully loaded, power everything, sports seats, aftermarket sound system, usual sales pitch.

I'm not trying to sell anything mind you, just tossing out some comparable prices from this part of the country.

I disagree, that is exactly what people said about the 68's for years. Uninformed people talk trash about 84's, people that know more know better than to talk trash about them.
I go everywhere in mine and considering there was over 51,000 made I rarely ever see one......wonder how many are left?
It's a nice piece to keep stock, it was a very significant turning point for Corvette production. it will be appreciated. All vettes have some kind of issues pick your poison.

The 84's are actually seeing a little interest form the car community now and have appreciated a little over the last couple of years. That said, to get the most from selling your car would require finding the person who sees and desires the car you have . One thing about older used vehicles, it's kinda hard to find another just like it just up the road. As nice as yours is, an informed educated buyer would jump on it over a less well taken care of newer model. Congrats on a vey swet ride

$8000.00 for a clean 84 is reasonable in the rust belt.
Is this you in the link below with your 58 ??

So, the Viagra dig is because I noted the real worth price of your favorite car? Grow up.

Posting a handful of ads for asking prices means nothing. I acknowleged there are stupid people who pay too much. There are even more stupid people who ask too much, as well as there are stupid people who overvalue their cars simply because they own them. Although, the $15k asking price was so funny I had to catch my breath before I started to type.

I could post 10 ads apiece of people asking ridiculous prices for each of the year Corvettes I have right now. It doesn't make me ignorant enough to believe they are worth that.

The Viagra dig ? I was simply asking a question.

A CLEAN 84 is worth $8000.00 in the rustbelt, I posted links to vehicles being sold in HIS area for that and more. To post it is worth $4000.00 is insulting, I know it and so do you. You can purchase a 1984 for that kind of money from an IDIOT or one that is beat to death. What can he get for his car ? There is only one way to find out but for you to chime in with $4000.00 dollars is

A 9 out of 10 with 41K miles and you have people telling you $4000.00
IGNORE THESE PEOPLE If you ever want to sell it for $4K I'll buy it and I really don't need a third Corvette but I wouldn't mind making an EASY $2000.00 dollars ++ I would ask $7500.00

My favorite car is not a 1984 Corvette
I do like my Corvettes very much, they're really neat they have four wheel disc brakes, and over 400chp.
