Out w/old, in w/new - out w/gold, in w/blue!
Recently completed the final transaction in a C4 swap/upgrade/crossgrade/whatever...
From:
1987 Gold Automatic Z52 Coupe
125K miles, cosmetically pretty nice
89 Wheels
To:
1988 Dark Blue/Black Sapphire 4+3 Z51 Coupe
55K miles, cosmetically not particularly nice
90 Wheels
Gained a much fresher engine and tranny, a difference I can feel! The guy practically gave it away due to the hood being beat up and the heater core gone, so I jumped on it and came out a few grand on top once the old gold sold.
Went from an OK color to my favorite combo(blue/gray), so that is sweet, and also really wanted to get back to a manual trans.
Had the pleasant surprise today of realizing the precats had already been removed, which accounts for the much better exhaust note. When the Magnaflows I have waiting go on, should be killer. Luckily, I never installed the intake upgrade on the previous one, so it's ready to go on this winter when the insurance expires.
I don't mind slowly fixing cosmetic stuff over time, well worth it for the immediate reward of a very lively powertrain. The stuff I've learned from CF while working on the 1987 for the past year gave me the confidence to snap this one up as soon as it came on Autotrader!

Nice score, I absolutely love that color combo, you never see it around!
