The antenna mast on my 1990 Vert broke and I ordered a new one from CC. The instructions say to remove the retaining nut - which I did. Now I am stuck. How do I get the mast out? The instructions aren't clear on this. They say to remove the "Contact Spring" next, but don't say how. How do you remove this Contact Spring? Any help would be appreciated.
WD40 needle nose pliers, mask off the paint and try not to scratch the car!
Do I just grab the base of the antenna with the pliers and pull up? Is the base of the antenna the Contact Spring"? Maybe wiggle back & forth as I pull? I'm just kinda double checking before I go beat & fram on my car. Thanks

Wiggle it to and fro twist and yank it out, you will be left with a threaded hole, do you want a pix?
......i took my motor apart as i thought that there may be a piece (tooth or two) still left in there and i was right!.....so, while in there, i removed all the old grease and re-greased and she's working fine.....
Mine is a 92 but I think yours is simular. I believe the contact spring is a cylindrical piece that sits over the mast and beneath the antenna nut. After you remove the nut you have to turn your radio on to activate the antenna motor for the contact spring, the mast and the cable to feed out. That is if it still works and the cable is intact. Take note of the orientation of the gear teeth on the old mast cable. The new mast goes back in the reverse order when you insert the new mast cable in and turn the radio off to feed the new mast in if I remember correctly.
