As much as I enjoy driving the '88...

C3s are it for me.

I have favorite years in every generation of vettes. My friend owns a 25th anniversary with around 12k on the clock, awesome car. 65-67 vetts have always been high on my list too. But I think the C4s have it all. Adequate horsepower, great styling and technology all in one package.

If I could have a resto-mod 62 or 65-67 vert, that would be my ride. C4 suspension with a LSx based motor and 6speed. That would be it!

In the modern era give me a Callaway Aerobody C4

I owned a C3 so maybe Im not as partial to them.

Default Have both C3 and C4...

Having both, and liking them both very much, I can tell ya they are worlds apart technologically, ride, handling, etc. But! Each has it's own charm.

My wife's C3 and my (past) '95 C4/LT1

The C3 is "rude, crude, and socially undesirable"...in a "in your face" sort of way. It is really a nostalgia trip to ride in my wifes C3 Vert 350/350/M4/4.11s/side exhausts. It is a real head turner - gets lots of comments at cruises, etc.

The C4 is ever so much more sophisticated, in comparison: handling, power band, ride, creature comforts, cockpit feel(!). It depends on what ya like, as always.

Having a 90 (ZR-1) now and having had a 95/LT1/M6, there is a noticeable increase in refinements between the two - In that regard, the later the better, as far as C4s go, I recon.

As far as "best looking" goes, I like them all, but the top of the list is the '63 (split window) coupe Sting Ray, the 91-96 C4s/90-95 ZR-1s, and the C6s. Putting it in perspective, I wouldn't trade my 90 ZR-1 for a new C6 - performance wise included, if that helps!

Best all-round C4s has to be the ZR-1s, the 96/LT4s running (some say a close) second followed by the 95/LT1s.

Just my 2¢ & not worth that, I recon!

P.

I had an '82 in the past and on my 7th C4 now, but the C3 was my favorite. The '82 was what the '96 is for the C3 era. It had the newest interior and everything was the best. GM put everything they had into that car. Even though it was stifled down with emissions crap and not fast for today's standards, it was a Vette. No mistaking it for anything else around. The C4 has it's own iconic look and better handling and the newest of everything . Comparing the 2, is like comparing the C5 to the C4.
I think we chose the model that best fits our best of memories and drive the one that let's us remember our good times. Some remember wanting one while working hard to support our young families , or was going to school and paying our bills. I think it all depends in which era we were teenagers and first fell in love with the Vette. I see more older gents sporting the C3s and the not so older guys driving C4s. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying only old guys drive the C3s (I'm an old goat myself), but I think most of us drive the model that came out in the years that we were young (er). I plan on getting a C6 (bypassing the C5) only because the ride itself is better and getting in and out of C4 is going to be a challenge later on. When I am driving that C6 , I will be thinking about the best times I had in my younger days in a C4

The C2 hands down is the most beautiful Corvette ever IMO. Exterior, interior, design wise it's pretty much perfect. The C4 is a real looker for it's time. Had a Ferrari type flair to it when it was released. I never liked the C5's, but I parked my C4 next to one Sunday at the supermarket and I've got to say it just struck me as really nice looking. Had that metallic black paint and was really nice. Pretty sure my next Vette (if my 84 ever dies) will be a C5 since the prices are very attractive on them and will get better and better as they age.

From the standpoint of sitting in and driving, the C3 feels more "Corvette" to me than a C4 or later.

Comparing Corvettes of different generations gets complicated. The best looking Corvette is the one YOU have in your garage. If you have more than one then be thankful for what you have. I think they all have their good and bad some more good than others is all.

The C4 is the one you bring home to mom and dad; the one you stick with day in and day out. Pretty and smart and faithful.

The C3 is the one you secretly want to date on a Saturday night; the one you don't want others to know about; but the one you want to brag about to your buddies. Very sexy, unpredictable, and, if you don't understand her, if you don't treat her right, she can break your heart.
