I drive my 87 every day and it has 215k miles on it. Yesterday I drove it 70 mph from Cincinnati to Angola, Indiana and back home, ran great the whole way.

And I'm the other end of the spectrum, under 70k on my '85 and currently not running. I think I trust a vette that has been driven regularly over one that has been sitting around. Cars are meant to be driven and when you're pushing 20 years old, you should have a lot of miles on a car. However it supports my theory that you can't beat a good 'ol fashioned RWD OHV engine, metal parts where newer cars have rubber. I don't know about the newer engines but the 'ol L-98's remind me of a good truck engine, proven engine design makes for a reliable block, it is all the other components you have to worry about.

Just sold my '88 to another forum member and it has 166K miles and drove a long trip home just fine.
