I donno, sure sounds like a sticking EGR valve. In my experience, any L98 with original injectors would benifit greatly by new injectors. One of the problems with the new technology is mechanics get way to dependant on it, and scanners are not all that useful on OBD1 cars, unless you are VERY good at using them. Having had vettes all my life, I see nothing "sissy" about driving Toyotas or Cavaliers or whatever you can afford. I'd much rather regularly drive a good running Nissan than a bad running vette; I just don't need the agrivation any more. If you have to pay someone to work on a 20 year old car, you are going to go broke quickly. JMO
It definately was the fuel pump. I've had it out in a variety of conditions, including taking it to Corsa yesterday for a cruise in. It consistently runs well now, (knock on wood). Before it would run well and then start *******.
I'm not a mechanic, never will be considered a mechanic. I can do stuff that's not too involved. I have enough to pay for things that require experience/tools/finesse. I don't have enough to constantly buy parts. This car was killing me, but it seems to have settled.
My plan is and always was to slowly do all the wear stuff, and move on to some mild mods. On my radar yet to be done:
Plugs
Wires
Cap and rotor
Maybe injectors, not sure
Mild mods:
PCMforless chip
Intake mod
Shift kit
I'd like it to be a little faster, and more reliable, and I'd be content.

That's the problem with so many saying "Opti's are crap". It gives everyone the impression that LT engines are unreliable compared to the L-series predecessors.
The L98 is definitely simpler (i.e. less high-tech), but it's not really any more reliable.
Fact: there is something simple that is wrong with your car, maybe several things.
Fact: there is someone who can discover what that is.
Fact: it can be fixed.
Fact: all you need is a little more patience and perserverance.
Good luck.

__________ I have a lot of money, but it is all in Accounts Receivable....
Glad to see you got that problem ironed out. I hope it was the fuel pump and you don't have any more problems! Now, go out and have some fun!!!
Thanks. I did just that Sunday. Drove up to Corsa. They parked me between a ZR1, and a ruby 40th. Lots of very nice cars there, including a 63 Yenko! A coworker who has an 84 (white/red like mine), took this pic, thought I'd share. BTW, I had hair when I bought this car!
I see your problem...it's than dang OSU shirt you have on! Get a nice maize and blue one and all of your troubles and corvette problems will disappear!!!

What are you, 12 years old?!
It's unfortunate that morons like you populate the internet just looking for people to irritate.

Old guys are cranky, ya make a joke about a beer belly and they want to kick your a$$ Good grief two guys from the same state and one makes a beer belly joke and he wants to beat me up and I'm the one who is 12 ???
