Assuming it's not going to be a daily driver...Grand Sport is definitely the way to go. Guarantee the GS will draw a lot more attention and interest.

GS is a real attention getter but C-5 Z06 are fast and smooth! I love the C-4's a lot but as they get older little glitches are part of the owner-ship! If I had to pay someone to fix them a newer Vette would soon be in my garage! I can easily understand some owners being ready for a change.

I was comparing my 383 GS (480HP) to a head/cammed C5 Z06 (usually around 500+HP)

I would go for the GS.

Even if it has lost some of its value due to modification, it's still a limited edition from a well-known tuner and it really shouldn't depreciate one dime unless you put a butt-ton of miles on it.

I'm assuming this won't be a daily driver, because you'd have to be nuts to daily a Grand Sport.

Assuming you buy the GS at the right price and don't drive it often, it's basically a savings account with 480 horsepower. When you sell it, you'll effectively have owned the thing for free or better.

The C5, however, will depreciate substantially as you hold onto it.

Reminds me of a song from the 60's, by the lovin' spoonful if I remember right. Forget the name of the song, but was refering to 2 girls and the chorus went something like "had to choose one and leave the other behind".

Appropriate to the situation?

I think this would be a good time for you to sell, if you know what I mean....... I have thought about a C5 Z06 also. Everytime something would go wrong with the GS, I would wish that I had a newer car. I do know one thing though, I sure miss driving a Corvette!! I hope it won't be long until another is in the garage.

I presently own the GS, thinking about getting rid of it for the Z. Both cars are of approx equal value.
I've had 3 C4s and am really itching for something newer/better. My wife says do it, but some of my Vette friends say I'm crazy because the GS will retain its value and is within 25 - 30 HP of the modded Z. What would you do?

Keep the GS

Depends on the heads and cam package also. Some H/C Z06's have over 500rwhp and they are beasts on the street. There are many well respected speed shops that have 500rwhp H/C packages such as Vette doctors, Cartek, and ECS just to name a few. I'd go with the C5Z

Man, thats a tough choice, wish it was mine.

A guy I know bought a black Z06, another guy I know bought a speed silver Z06, both really nice cars. But Ive only seen one GS in my life and it was cruzing the beach.

C5's and C6's are everywhere here, C4's not so much, a GS almost never.

Personally I don't care for the Z06, unless its a C6.
