1996 Doug Rippie DRM480 (383, coilovers, gears, etc.) Grand Sport (one of two in existence), 18K miles
or
2003 Z06 head/cam/headers, etc. perfect condition - approx. 25K miles
I presently own the GS, thinking about getting rid of it for the Z. Both cars are of approx equal value.
I've had 3 C4s and am really itching for something newer/better. My wife says do it, but some of my Vette friends say I'm crazy because the GS will retain its value and is within 25 - 30 HP of the modded Z. What would you do?
Hum....custom/bad *** GS or run of the mill C5.....
There are few collectible C4 you have one of them send me a PM if you decide to sell. Rippie has seen plenty of my LT4 doesnt make it any more valuable than any of the LT4's. You have one of the true collectable C4's modded by one of the corvette living legions.

Wow, thanks man. I wish more people felt like you. The car may or may not be up for sale soon....I'll let ya know. PM me so I have your name.

Sorry bro you misunderstood not to diminish your car it probably a great Z I was only agreeing with your sarcasm of your post aimed at Digital Disaster
I recently went through what you're going through now. Do I sell my GS convertible or keep it? I chose to let it go and bought a 2005 Daytona Sunset convertible instead. Yes, I know how rare the GS is and I loved owning it for more than 5 years, but I was ready to move up to another beauty. Will I regret it someday? Maybe, but for now I'm happy with my decision.
I think that the GS will continue to hold value whether or not its your DRM-modded car or a completly stock GS. Of all the C4's, the GS may be the most desired car over the years. It could even increase in value.
The Z06 is a great car and it is a great performance package directly from GM. I think that their value will probably drop as the years go by simply because GM will be producing the Z06 platform for years to come.
There are enough differences between the two cars that it will seem like night and day. The C4 is rough compared to the smoothness of the C5 platform. Seating, ease of entry and exit, ergonomics and such make the two cars miles apart. HP/torque is not really a factor becasue you can build all the power you need or want in either car.
Obviously the trick is to keep the GS and just buy a Z06. Your wife said you could buy the Z06, just don't tell her it's an addition to the collection, not an exchange .

Well Diva you must be a little home sick stopping by here.

I would rather have your Grandsport, I think it will hold it's value alot better which to me at least is just an added bonus. If you wait a couple of years you can buy a C5 Z cheap if you even want one when the base model C7 has 500chp and the Z is over 700
Personally I'd stick with the Grand Sport. The car is real classy yet menacing at the same time. Good luck either way and give us the 411 regardless of what you decide.

You got the go ahead already. What are you waiting for? If you buy it w/o selling your GS, you can blame the wife.
I believe that the GS will at the very least hold its value over time. It probably will increase while the Z will decrease. It all comes down to money. Do you care about losing an investment? If you do, keep the GS. If you don't care about it and won't have sellers remorse, sell it and get the car you want.
