The only thing I can say to the new owners.....especially the over 40 crowd...is drive that sucker like a sports car...YOU are NOT old ladies. I HATE seeing old men in the slow lane with a vette driving below the speed limit! HELLO....it's a VETTE!
What's this golden years crap at 67.
I got my 1st one 1 1/2 yrs ago at 60. The second happiest day of my life.
I figure I'm still 20yrs from the "Golden Years"

Great that you are finally a vette owner at 67. I too am 67, but I purchased my first vette at age 20 and have had them ever since. C1s, C2s, C4s, and C5. I have a C4 and a C5 now and drive them as much as I can to and from work. In 6 months I retire, and hope to drive them for many years, but thankfully not to work. Plan to take some cruises (fun fest, NCM, etc). I got the fever 47 years ago and it burns as hot as ever. There is no cure at any age when you catch it; you don't want to cure it at all, just enjoy it. Again, welcome to the world of corvettes.
Whatever possessed me to buy a Corvette at 67 years old? Never wanted one since I was a teenager and after joining this forum about 5 months ago I just bought one from a forum member. I love this car, so I think I made a good choice in my twilight years.
Just picked up a 96CE with my father. Hes 66 so your in fine company. Must of been that ZR-1 I bought that he saw me driving around in that did it? Enjoy the car
Bought my first Corvette in Fall of '85, a 1986 red coupe. I am now 66 and enjoy it more each year. With sunglasses and a cap on, and the roof off, no one can tell I'm a geezer. I still do most of the maintenance myself and with the shop manual, I can repair much of it myself. They are not as complicated as people think. Also own two C1s.
got mine a 2 weeks ago today, I'm 18 so it isn't old age crisis it's more of a university moment (wait my whole life is all going to be work? screw that *buys Corvette*). Anyways yeah it's nice to look at other cars for the people who think the car is cool but I get some mean stares sometime.. like jealous *I'm going to follow you, stab you and take your car because you're too young for that car* Yeah...

Hahahahaa when the person selling the vette i wanna get heard a 17 yr old was getting it he was like lol
He had that car for over 10 years and change
oh god that would suck that the owner would do that.
I got my car through a charity, an old man (great guy though I never met him) passed away and gave the car to the hospice to sell and when I got it the person said he would have rather seen me get it and take care of it rather than another bidder who was an older gentleman that just wanted the Vette to buy a Vette (Though I do hope this guy also finds his Vette!)

I passed up buying a '54 back in '55....hated myself for many years....bought my first at 69 and now I'm near 71. Just take a couple of Advil's and getting in and out is much easier.
Just be careful in your twilight years since the urge to pick up that young chick smiling at you as you go by could be hazardous to your health. Actually, she was only smiling at the car. :o:

I agree. However if you flash money at these girls they will go and the corvette just got them started to look. My wife of 45 years does not like this at all and I can not blame her but have to do something to try and get it up again after treatments for prostrate cancer. Looks like I am probably going to hell.

Understand the treatment side affects (effects), 14 year survivor after radiation, but soon I'll have to start the 'shot-in-the-butt' thing...oh, well, life is always too short no matter what the age. Beats the alternative. Never thought I'd survive my wife of 48 years.
I'll have to try the "money" thing, so, I'll probably see you there. As Red Foxx said, "Here comes the big one, Elizabeth!"

Had the shot in the butt thing right after the external beam radiation as I guess they do both now. Very sorry about your wife. God, didn't mean to turn this thread from vettes to cancer. I will shut up now and just keep on driving and enjoy.
You are never too old. It just takes a little longer to get in and out. The great thing is that once behind the wheel you feel years younger! It's the best tonic available without vodka.
