Default Used Hypertech Power Plus Programmer Help

Hey all,

Got a used Hypertech Programmer with my LT4. Have been told that you cannot use it (on another car) until the program is removed from the car it was originally used on. Is this true?

If so, how do I go about removing the program? Any way to keep the car with the program intact, and use it on others as well?

Can I use a Power Programmer to program more than one vehicle?
No. The Power Programmer III marries itself to the first vehicle to which it is connected. However, you can program that vehicle back to stock at any time.

If I use the Power Programmer III to tune my computer can I ever get the stock tuning back? Does the computer ever automatically overwrite or undo the Hypertech tuning?
The tuning delivered by the Power Programmer III will be the active tuning in your computer until YOU decide to remove it. At any time, you may plug the Programmer into the under-dash connector and reprogram your computer with the stock tuning that was originally present.

same I"ve heard.

For less you can get a mail in, and for roughly the same price I can get a custom road tune, $100 more for dyno.

I wouldn't waste the cash

I've got one for my pickup...about the only thing it did was firm up the shifts and I was able to correct for the tire size so my speedometer is right. Other than that I can't see where it has made the pickup run any better.

My vote is they are not really worth the price.

All-

If I remove the program and turn the car back to stock, will the Hypertech "unmarry" my car?
Will I then be able to use it on another car?

Yes, putting all settings back to stock resets the programmer and then it can be used on another vehicle. The procedure is detailed in the instructions, plus if you page through the screens, it's easy to see how to do it.

If your car is the one that has been programmed by the Hypertech programmer, then YES you can use the programmer on another car by doing the following:

1. Plug programmer back into your car, and return your car back to stock program.

2. Once that is done, your VIN will no longer be stored in the Hypertech, and you can then use the programmer on another car that it was designed for.

3. Keep in mind, you can't use the programmer on just any car. It will only work on the cars that it was made for. That is why you see so many different part numbers for these. Usually, they only work on one model year of car. I am not 100% sure on this, but it's possible that it will only work on LT4 cars.

Default My 84

The guy I bought my 84 from had one installed, and it's the first thing I removed. They can be switched from car to car,and they can't be reprogrammed.I didn't like it because it idled faster.turned on the fans sooner, and I didn't notice any other improvements. I installed a standard factory chip,so mine can be had to someone for just the mailing, about $5.I don't race so I'm happy with the factory chip. They have more than one on the market, mine is the middle one,The Street one I think.

Frank43 is talking about a programmer, not a chip.
