That black metal piece between the side-view mirrors and the windshield, are they factory? Were they an option? my 95 vert has em. I've seem just about every year some with and some without them and was just wondering...
my 87 came factory with them, but they were metal, not plastic... definately makes a difference with wind noise and deflection.
adds a nice smooth feature ....
Some coupes also got the wind deflectors. My 87 coupe has them. I've never heard a reason why some coupes got them and other's didn't.
Because the body components were painted as a group and then separated for installation of the components, it may have been that the workers who affixed the deflectors after painting didn't really know at that point if they housings were going onto a coupe or 'vert.
In any event, some coupes did get the deflectors installed on the assembly line.
My LT4 coupe has the defletors installed, but it was not done at the factory. They are attached with screws (not rivets, as was done on the 'verts), and I've noticed that the installer kissed the door panel with the chuck teeth on his drill as he drilled one of the holes on the driver's side.
I suspect that all C4 coupes that have the deflectors were installed after the car left the factory, but I have no documentation that could confirm this.

The wind blasting off the mirrors is just one more part of the chaos! With the top out the whole experience is loud and raw. I love it. My old Jeep had a fold down windshield. We used WWII goggles for grins. A little wind in the face is good for the soul.
I've been thinking about getting the deflectors for my coupe. The wind buffeting in my face can be very annoying. I almost always have my windows rolled down when I'm driving, so i think they would be useful. My soul doesn't need wind blowing directly into my face.

Be well,

oops, I didn't notice that the last time I was in the car....
