Louvres were cool back in the '70s.
Especially if you didn't have A/C (my '78 didn't).
Nowadays with A/C , they're just an appearance item that serve no functionality.

I would like to have a set just like on that TA,honestly.

I'd call anything that keeps the inside of the car from baking, functional. Unfortunately I've not seen any for the C4 that didn't look like crap, IMO. I wish someone would make a discreet set that went inside of the glass for these cars. I'd buy them in a heartbeat. I've actually kicked around the idea of making such a set.

See above. Cars such as ours with such an immense backlight would really benefit from these as far as helping to preserve interior parts, keeping the car cooler when parked in the sun and making the A/C's job easier, both increasing it's life by reducing the demand on it and thus improving mileage in the bargain when using it.

Now this takes me back... I had the same set on my '79 T/A.
What do you get when putting them on? Reduced interior lighting, reduced rear visibility, and a dirty back glass (nobody pulled them off to clean underneath).

I like the TA better,it doesn't have that gap at the bottom, but maybe the gap helps you see better or something.
I think its at the rear sight line, also helps you when you unlock them and lift the rear center to clean the rear window.
( I'll admit although this is a wild *** guess)
However I do remember the TA like (the Camaro I used to have in the same 80s era) had a chrome or black metal channel around the entire rear window where the bottom mounting and top mounting points for the louvers were installed. For my camaro there were two top mounting brackets that slipped under the top of the chrome channel that the hinges mounted too. They fit uder the lip of the channel and were secured with that white soft adhesive tape. The bottom two points also fit under the channel where where the lock mount also secure with that white sticky tape. In the cheaper model louvers there were no locks just the turn screw.
This being said .....
The corvette has no rear chrome channel so obviously they had to come up with some other idea. Im betting they lock some how on the sides. (again this is a wild *** guess but I bet im right.
Goldcylon was a owner of two sets of louvers in the 80s. One cheap set that was stolen (thumb screw type) One Black metal type with a lock that was left alone. In Arizona in 1981 it was the thing to do:
Now where did my gold chains go?
If you buy these let me know what you think would make a good retro look and everyone will say hey I remember those.

Did the owner have a bunch of gold chains and/or a Members Only jacket as well?
Cue up the Cajun from Joe Dirt "Damn, boy...you outta date!"
Hey my dad still sports a Members only Jacket and he refuses to get rid of it. If your a fan of the Sopranos like my dad and I are we both laughed our butts off when Richie Apreal (season 2?) was let out of prison after 20 years and in the first scene he was wearing a members only jacket.
Its been a joke in the family for years. He now wears it for spite

Louvers are indeed functional. The ones on the GS look good. The owner truely modded them to make them look right. At least you dont need to worry about a rear tint job.
