the other day, I was full throttle in my 86 vette and when I got to 125, the car started to shift one gear up and down very fast like if it was searching for the right gear. I let go the throttle, got back to 70 and everything was perfect.
What could have happened? I drove it 4 more hours the next days and the trans seems okay (althought I haven't tried it again at 125)
Could the trans be going away or might it be electronic?

You can rule out the electronics. 86 transmissions have none.
Vettes and police cars had a special valve that allowed the trans to shift from 3rd gear(at wide open throttle) to 4th gear. More than likely the trans you have now is not a vette trans, but has been swapped from a different car during it's past. That is the normal reason for the symptoms you describe
