With a stud behind the wheel, you don't need allseason tires in the snow.

Freezing rain, studded snows, a VW air cooled Beattle can handle just about anything.

I know, I know, sudded snows are illegal, not in Oregon.
I lived in Portland Oregon for 5 years, it snowed, rained, high winds, (gusts to 80mph), freezing rain, every year.

I moved to Northern Cal, no snow, no freezing rain, no snow tires, no ice scrapers, no chains, no sand in the trunk, Never went back to Oregon..........the winters were depressing.

Studded tires are legal here as well, but that only helps so much if you don't have any clearance.
Last year the corvette wouldn't have even made it out of my driveway.

I took this picture after kicking an beating my swing up garage door open last winter. My driveway was nice and clear when I went to work that morning.

Needless to say, I've got a Jeep YJ for my daily driver here in winter. Locked front and on 33'' MTR tires I don't get stuck easily.

My Corvette's great in the snow. Unless I'm trying to take off, stop or turn.

Get a beater.

Driving a Corvette in the snow sucks. You can't drive it like a Corvette in the snow so what's the point ? When I drive my car I DRIVE the sumbish, I don't want to burn out the asr bulb trying to drive it in the snow.

there's nothing special about a corvette being erronously singled out as somehow the worst car in the world to drive in snow. its the tires, tires, tires.
I agree they are a bunch of pansies, 3 men should be able to push a corvette out of the snow no problem. I love how one was standing behind it pushing when his reverse lights were on and he was trying to go backwards!

Its ok to drive in very light snow like less than 1", but it becomes a matter of ground clearance and traction after that. I wouldnt recommend it, not because its RWD, but cause its low the ground and has summer tires. Get a cheap old Chevy C10, they're great in the snow

I've seen a lot of C4s on the road in winters in new england, but its always on days with little or no snow and reasonably clear roads. I see no problem there if you can live with the road salt and what it can do to the parts on your undercarriage over time. If I didn't plan to keep my C4 for the long haul and keep it looking good enough to eat off of I probably would be more likely to drive mine in the winter months as road conditions permitted.

Don't listen to everyone here. Cars are meant to be driven. A little salt (and even rain for some people here) isn't going to kill your car. Just wash/clean it off every now and then.

You can probably drive your vette 90-95% of the winter if you want depending on how much snow you normally get. If there is fresh snow on the ground or lots of it then just take a bus or have a buddy take you for a few days till the plows clear everything. As long as it isn't snowing hard or theres lots of it on the ground there's no reason why a good responsible driver can't drive in the snow.

Thats at least true for where i live in IL. We get about one big snowfall a month and within 2 days it's either half melted or at least plowed out of the way.

I even drive my motorcycle every day 3 miles to get to class. Talk about cold but if i can do that whats stopping a vette?

Default Corvettes and snow.

I've got an 03 and an 84 and neither go out in the snow and ice because they really are a mess in either type of weather. I guess the wide tires and the light weight cause them to be so skidish, but my wife has a jeep and I get to use that when I need to, plus I don't like the salt getting all over the car and the chance that some kid in a hopped up Honda will smash into me skidding on the slippery roads.

I traded my wife's durango RT for the vert. I did in in December during a snow storm and got a great deal on the vette and 6K more on the trade than I was offered during the summer. I guess Full time 4wd is worth more during the winter...

But I couldn't make it down your driveway in my vette with that much snow on the ground.....don't you own a snow shovel?

It comes down to whether you choose to drive on the salted roads with your corvette and you must leave the vette parked until the roads are clear enough to drive on following larger snow storms.

Like I said, my drive way was clear when I left for work that morning. All that snow was from one day. The picture is a bit decieving as well as the Durango was on top of quite a bit of snow.
Funny you say you traded your Durango for your vette. Thats exactly what I did too. Now I've got a 93 Grand Cherokee for my winter beater.

As you can see, I live in a small mountain community in Utah, where we like to say that we have the "GREATEST SNOW ON EARTH" and when I was still working, I did use my car as a daily driver. One Valentines Day my husband gave me a set of Goodyear Formula One rain tires for my car, whose name is Melissa, and I can tell you with all honesty, that they will work beautifully in snow. They are expensive, I believe he paid somewhere around a thousand dollars for the set, but I could go wherever I wanted. I will admit, that I did have to adjust my speed down a bit, and avoid excessive braking but other than that, they were fantastic. I am still using them but now I'm retired so I don't have to bother going out in the snow unless I want to, but its sure is fun to go out and do doughnuts at the church parking lot.
