Hi all anyone here drive there vette in the winter time snow and stuff? mines a daily driver and I'm unsure if I want to get a beater car for winter.
Clay
How severe are your winters? If you only get light to moderate snow you should be able to get by nicely on a set of all-season high performance radials like the Kumho Ecsta ASX.
If you get beaucoup snow (and I suspect you do in Ontario) then yes, get a beater.
I'm donating my old E-30 Bimmer to charity. My parents are giving me their '99 Camry as my winter beater. Mom's trading up for a RAV-4 SUV.

I can only use my 87 coupe from about April to mid Oct. I use my Chevy Tracker in the winter. It is a piece of crap and in my opinion a "disposable" vehicle. My wife uses our 05 Impala. A nice car with good mileage, but still after the Vet, in my opinion, is still "disposable".
I drive my 92 DD all winter in Massachusetts. Been doing that since I bought it.Currently I'm using Pirelli PZero Nero's, which are OK in snow, but nothing you can get in a 9.5" tire is really good in the snow.
See my avatar photo? That day, I brushed off the car, shoveled the driveway, and drove to work. No problem.
Vette + Snow = SLED.!!!! I had to drive mine last winter while the truck got a new engine. Took off the center air dam so it would not get broken by ice blocks on road. Getting out of the uncleared parking lot at nite was a joke, as was going down my driveway in morning. On dry streets, it was ok, but I know that the tires were "hard" due to the cold. Get a nice little truck, F150's with the v6 are great beaters for the winter. Come December 1st, both vettes go in the new garage with the S2000 for the winter.
I have owned one at a time and driven every day, a Corvette since 1966 and currently an 87. I drive in snow, rain, sunshine, sleet, tornados , earthquakes, and every condition you can imagine. Wide tires do not work in snow and I put 4 narrow Blizzack tires on my 87 vet and go in the snow, in fact I have driven around 2 stuck 4WD vehicles in the snow! The absolute worst driving condition and for which no tire works, is........freezing rain!

Your a crazy crazy man.... I live in MA as well and i got caugh a couple times in the snow.... its alright in the snow it tends to slide allot but thats probably attributed to the tires. Its just alot easier to not drive it and get a FWD beater and be done with it. I live In MA too and boy do they love to put down the salt and I just wouldnt want that all over my car.
Like I have been reading the guys are telling you to get narrow tires! wIDE TIRES AND LIGHT WEIGHT IN REAR DON'T MIX! If your going to spend money for tires and possibley rims why still take the chance? Get a beater! Your insurance on your vehicles won't be much because of multy cars as well which will allow your Vette insurance to drop alittle.
I had a 85 I got stuck driving in the snow. I sold my 89 Crown Vic a little too soon in the spring and got three weeks of snow to drive my Corvette in. It can be done but it takes all the fun out of the car so why bother ? I would buy a beater first.
1. what are those pussies dressed as men doing? that was the most weak-willed girlish non-effort i've truly ever seen in pushing a car out of the snow. when's the last time any of them did a single push-up? what a disgrace
2. any rear-wheel car on the planet can get stuck like that. this is not corvette-specific.
3. its all in the tires. tires, tires, tires. UHP summer tires of course aren't gonna cut it in the dead of winter in a foot of snow.
there's nothing special about a corvette being erronously singled out as somehow the worst car in the world to drive in snow. its the tires, tires, tires.

Looks like too much foot on the gas pedal. I got my lincoln mark VII going on pure ice after letting it inch along at idle speed. Haven't tryed in the vette yet but maybe would not work in heavy snow due to resistance of snow.
