Just wondering what everyone is seeing as far as coolant temp in the summer goes. I have a 93 LT1, the coolant runs from 180-220 on a 85-90 degree day. Is this normal range? Thanks in advance for any imput.

It is always better to use the search feature of the forum prior to asking general questions, also reading previous posts on identical topics will assist your knowledge of your car.
For what it's worth ... my 89 L98 with the A/C on in 85-90 weather, runs at 200 give or take 5 degrees depending on how hard I'm stressing the engine, etc.
My 95 LT1 temp is 197 to 201 cruising on hwy( 180 stat) in 90 degrees. If Im at a long traffic light it will go up.In bad traffic it may reach 228 but the fans will cool it down. When you put the a/c on the fans work and will bring temp down.In traffic its a crapshoot.Make sure you change the anti-freeze and clean all of the debris in front of the radiator-this car is an expensive vacuum cleaner that cleans the roads. You will be suprised on how much garbage is stuck to the radiator.
if you are cruzin around on the hwy and the temp is 220 then something is wrong-probably garbage on the rad. Also always use the digital gauge when checking the temp.
You will notice that your engine temp will generally be lower with the a/c turned on. This is because that automatically activates the electric fan which cools your radiator. If your a/c is turned off the engine temp must reach 228 degrees before the fan comes on.
Since I live on the Gulf Coast my a/c stays on most of the time.
I tried the search first, but couldn't find anything that was specific enough.
Bud, maybe your not using it correctly: Search/Advanced/Archive posts (include checkbox at botton) Select Tech or General C4 section, go
I ran and found 10 pages fulled with posts on temp...
That's the problem, I didn't want to read ten pages full of things that didn't apply to my particular engine. I got exactly what I wanted in this post. Thanks to everyone who replied.
