Not much room in the vert but if your going to drive it like you say, it should not be a problem. Handling wise, big difference in cornering etc. Coupe does much better due to rigidity. I have owned both and could tell a big difference in the handling but still love putting the top down on a nice day! That kind of offsets the handling loss...ha.

I have a vert, with optional hardtop in place I would bet it has less flex than a coupe since the vert has an X frame under it.

Top dow stoage is almost zero, a SMALL duffel bag at best

For the Jersey shore the most you will need is a towel, swimsuit and a toothbrush. These will fit fine in a vert.

Seriously, with the top down there isn't much storage room, but there isn't much more in a coupe with the top stored in the rear. If you're going to keep it at the shore get a vert and travel back and forth with the top up. There is nothing like a convertible at the beach.

I can get two small suitcases in mine. Have taken it on a weeks vacation before. Just plan on packing light, it will work. Who needs much clothes when your taking a Vett on vacation with the top down....ha.

I owned two coupes before I bought the vert that I currently have. The vert handles much better with the top down than the coupe with the targa top off. Less space in the vert. My golf clubs now ride in the passenger seat whereas I could put two sets of clubs and a partner in the coupes. But to me, the vert is a lot more fun. However, both are great cars and a great value. Get either one... I doubt you will be disappointed.

I had a coupe and then went to the vert for you see less of them due to far less of them being produced and therefore are worth more when you go to get another Vett and sell it or trade it. Either one are nice to have. Beauty lies in the beholder..ha.

The coupe (targa) has plenty of room for two small suitcases.

By the way, if you need someone to stay and keep an eye on the shore house while you are on one of those trips just let me know.

I'll be more than happy to help.

I have an 88 coupe and a 92 vert. They both have positives and negatives.
I love the vert with the top down, I think verts are beautiful, and love the convertible feeling.
The coupe has less rattles, and does have more storage space. You will like either one, and probably want the one you don't have

I've fit luggage for two for a week and two golf bags. Mind you, we have what's considered small golf bags by today's stanards and the luggage was soft.

I've also fit in a full sized gas grill. It was new and not assembled. The box wouldn't fit but the pieces did.

When I brought home an 88 key keyboard I took the top off and let its box stick out in the breeze. (only about four miles)

I regularly amaze the people at Sam's club with all the stuff that will fit in the cargo area.

I thought all Vettes were born as verts and they added the tops later. There is nothing like a warm night with the top down and the Beach Boys playing while cruising the beach areas. This is how I handle luggage in my vert on trips:

Your looking for a weekend car for the beach and you are asking if you should buy a convertible.?

I have all the room I need in my convertible and it is a daily driver.
