I am going to look at a 35th edition this afternoon. I have an 88 so am familiar with that year. Hasn't been driven for 10 yrs. ,but has been stored properly in a heated and cooled garage here in North Carolina. It is all original with 65000 miles. Owner is 82 and original purchaser. Says car is excellent. Forgot to ask what tranny ( duh ) Hope its 4+3 . I love mine. I was called to look at it for him, so he could determine what to ask for it. He asked me if he could get 10000. for it. I want to buy it ,if its as good as he says it is. How about some advice on its worth. Thanks in advance.........

If it's as nice as it sounds 10 grand is a steal for a 35th Anniversary Edition. After sitting for that length of time it may have some leaks and need other fuel related attention. Good luck
I'd go over the car with a fine toothed comb. I think the biggest problem with the car is the fact that it's sat for ten years. Gaskets and seals dry out. Coolant and lubricants degrade over time. I don't know if how it's been stored will help this any. Hopefully you can get it started with no problems and drive it around. The drive would be the deciding factor for me. Good luck with your purchase.
When I bought my 93 Ruby , it only had 7800 miles. It was not in storage, but not driven much. The first thing I did was to have all fluids changed. Anti freeze, brake, rear, transmission, oil. IF it has fuel in the tank, I'm not sure it would be a good idea to even start the car. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will answer that. IF you can't do the work yourself, you are looking at $1500 or more for the service. Hey come up to Maryland, I'll sell you my Ruby with 14K miles for $18K
I just bought a 35th 2 months ago with 85k stored for 4 years. One owner, all paperwork, report. Sight unseen, I love this car! Is it perfect..NO, but it is 19 years old I don't need the a/c, I wanted a CD player, better tires. I call it my "Money Pit" . Paid 11.5k now priceless. 17"x22" poster on the LR wall Marrage picture 8x11. My Wife understands...pkazsr
NADA tends to be pretty accurate, more so than other pricing guides. $10,000 is way too low for the car, even if it has a few problems. But special editions are special cars and it can take time to find buyers willing to pay the fair market value, especially when C4 cars are selling slowly now. Still, with that mileage it is a future money maker if it is kept up and the miles are kept off.

I went over my notes from the Bloomington Gold '07 auction. They had one 88 Anniv sell for $8,500. It had an A4 and looked OK from a distance. I did not catch the miles but it must not have been a low-miles car otherwise they would have highlighted that info during the auction.
I think that the one you are looking at is a good buy at 10K. I'm sure you will have some minor problems with it but even if you have to sink a couple of grand into it you should be OK.
I agree that all fluids should be changed along with a close inspection of hoses, belt and weatherstripping. Buy new tires too.
