Corsa’s are a very well made system, looks good and sounds alright, I think Corsa’s sound is like a high performance V6, kind of a import sound. But nobody has ever complained about the resonance.
The standard LT1 exhaust is 2.75 inches where the Corsa is 2.50. You will find people say that’s fine, your car will run as good or better. But why can’t they make a 3 inch system? I would think that a 3 inch system would perform even better, with room for a lot of performance add-on’s. Remember your motor is a big air pump, the more air efficiently in and out the more HP.
I went with the B&B’s I think they look better and sound better, but they have a resonance at 1600 to 1900 RPM in six gear, at about 75 mph. Which on a long trip can get old, but it’s a performance system, I expected sound from my exhaust.
It’s a 3 inch system with room to grow and you can get it anywhere for $995.00 and if you look harder, you will find it for less. Plus Mr. Goodwrench will install it for around $250.00, if you still like a 2.50 inch system that sells for $795.00.
If you want a very good exhaust system that was designed for your car, with no resonance and still doesn’t sound that bad. Stay stock, but as you can see I never follow my own advice.

I don't mean to thread hijack but why do all the Corsa catback sets I see list 86+? Is there something drastically different about 84,85 that would keep them from bolting up?

Starting in 86, the car had 2 cats. 85 has only one. I'm guessing that Corsa didn't want to spend the time nor the money in fabricating a system that could only be used for one or two year model cars.

Corsa is a nice system - what I can't believe is how it appears that the price has gone up. If I remember correctly I bought mine back in 2000 or 2001 and it was 750.00 delivered.
Anyway - I have the cats eliminated on my car and had the corsa system tied to my TPIS LT Headers. Stock engine and cam and the car sounds great. If I ever get around to it I am going to go with a bigger cam with some lope. Should sound dam near perfect with that set up.

As some of you may know, I have a B&B system and if anyone also has one, they know that it produces horrific resonance. If I was able to get hold of a set of Corsa mufflers, would that knock out the resonance or would I need to get the entire Corsa catback system?

I think the Corsa mufflers are the key to the resonance issue they have a 2 chambered exhaust can hence the reason for the second tip a smaller amount of exhaust flows out one of the tips. Corsa also has a H pipe in the system.

You gotta be kidding, as it they arent expensive enough...I think Im out of the waiting game for Corsa, thats just too much for some pipes and a pair of mufflers.
Ive been looking for some used Corsas for almost a year now.

I put an MBRP exhaust on my diesel truck last night. It's about a $600. system and really is just pipes and a tip. No muffler. More goes into the price than just the cost of materials through.

Bottom line, Corsa knows there system works, and it is the only one that has 0 resonance, they have a patent, AND people are willing to pay for it . Until their patent expires, they are going to try to get as much for each system as they can.

Patents are usually good for about 7-10 years and then all bets are off. If you can find out when they came out with their no resonance "trick", then add about 7-10 years and you'll have your answer. If I had to guess, I'd say about another 5 years until they all can do it.

I have a call into a tech at Corsa and asked the same question I posted here - "If I get only the mufflers, will the resonance disappear?" I'm waiting for a reponse, but so far, I learned that if I wanted to purchase only their mufflers (from them), the cost is $775.

The Corsa tech just got back with me. He said their mufflers for an 86, would work on my 85 with a little fab work and they will knock out the resonance. But the $775 steep price for only a pair of mufflers is a bit much.

775.00 Unreal man they got ya by the short hairs WTF is a guy supposed to do the drone almost drove me insane I had to get them I think they were 799.00 3 years ago a big chunk of change but didn't bankrupt me. I wonder what stock mufflers with headers and a bunch of mods would sound like or how restrictive they would be. 775.00 that's a lot of firkin money for 2 mufflers.
