My '88 C4s engine is missing. I just replace both maf relays due to a start up problem Ive been having. Now the last 2 times Ive starting her up she fired right up. But at idle I can hear the car missing. I just checked all the spark plugs and plug wires as well as the firing order. Any suggestions?
160k miles. I just put new AC Delco plugs in about 2 months ago-they looked fine. Just a little black under the electrode part but it was dry not like oil deposits or anything and I guess thats normal. Also recently put a new cap & rotor on.
I would agree with Bogus on the color of the spark plug....in the firing area. You may find that most plugs look alike and one or two are different. Remove each plug and examine what you see. This may lead you to look at certain cylinders. Are there any codes stored? Any loose vac lines?
I had an intermitten maf code-not sure if its fixed or not. I just replaced the maf and 2 maf sensors and havent driven it much since.
The car was at the dealer about a month ago where they checked for vacuum leaks and replace the evap canister and tey said its good.
How do I check for vacuum leaks?
I just bought a digital multi meter-what parts should I check and what kinda numbers should I be looking for?
The resistance spec for GM Multec injectors (used in years 89 thru 91) is 16.5 ohms +/- .3 ohms. Just remove the injector connector and place the ohm meter leads on the injector terminals. Check the resistance when the injectors are cold and hot.
Ok the car is still having the random startup problem-at completely random times it'll either take crank for a long time before it starts or sometimes it'll be fine and start up right away. And I can still hear the engine missing. Can anyone help me?? Help would be greatly appreciated!
