Remember the Hurst Olds 442? They used lightning rods in that and I have always thought the idea was pretty cool. Fast forward to now..
My bro has an 87 Mustang GT which has been in storage since 96 and he's bringing it out. He's ditching the T5 and going auto. Probably gonna be a stroked out 351 in it. He was thinking about a Kenne Bell equipped 347 as well.
Anywhooooo, who makes the 'lightning rod" style of shifter anymore. I don't think he wants one out of a Hurst Olds, but the style of 3 levers which I have seen at the track before. I tried searching google but I keep getting info on the Hurst Olds. What type of shifter is this actually called? That would aid me in google searching as well.
Lightning Rods are long discontinued for automatic applications, and they bring a premium on eBay.
Lightning Rods for Lenco will not work. The Lenco is a planetary style trans similar to an automatic (I use that analogy very loosely!), and are quite expensive, not suitable for street use (they are race-only units).
Yes the universal models available by hurst in the 80's are no longer an available item. Ebay is pulling top dollar for them. I have run them in my camaro for years. They make 3 speed and four 4 models. I think you caould fab a 4 speed one into a vette.
