Default Stock Wheels 1996

Ok Tomz Wheels has a set of 4 17x9.5 chrome z06 wheels for $599! Seems like one hell of a deal to me? Any comments, thoughts? My 1996 coupe take all 17x9.5's right?

Just bought a set of black ZR1's from them for my LT4.

FWIW..I think the chrome ZR1's (or the black for that matter) would look better on your aqua coupe. I'm not too fond of the ZO6 wheels on C4's. They just don't look natural...whatever the heck that means. lol

Thanks for the opinion! I will keep it in mind. Any pictures of either?

Here's a link:

http://tomzwheels.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/23_38

Although they are more common, imo, the ZR1 style wheels just look more correct on the C4...(considering they were actually designed for the C4.) Here's a pic of my car w/ both the chrome & black (the black is a chop):

Can you "chop" a pic of it with the zo6 rims?

Sorry but that's beyond my level of expertise.

Someone else actually did the chop for me. Maybe another member w/ chop exp. will chime in and work my pic.

Keep in mind, what I like and what you like is exactly that...if you like the chrome ZO6's then by all means go w/ those...just cuz I don't dig them on C4's doesn't mean that you or others feel the same way. They are a good looking wheel but, to me, it just looks like you took a wheel off a different era Vette and put in on yours...where the ZR1's look like they were made for the C4...which they were.

Are 9.5's stock on a 1996? Opinion - is it better to go 11;s on rear?

Base 96's came w/ 8.5's up front & 9.5's on the rear.

I had 9.5's all around but eventually switched to 11" rears for the wider profile out back. Gives it a wider stance which I like but tires for 11's are much harder to come by...either very pricey or very cheap...not many options. 9.5's all around will allow you to rotate front to back...and many more tire options are available to you. You can go w/ 285's all around for a meatier look...which is what I had before I went to 11's. It's really up to you which way to go but you can get a set of 9.5 fronts & 11" rears from Tomz for close to the same price as 4-9.5's...so price isn't really a factor. Do you want the big meats on the rear or not? Either way you'll love it...keep in mind the 11's w/ 315's do stick out the wheel wells just a tad.

Thank you.One more questions, what is the widest you can put on a 9.5 in the rear?
I will post pictures when I decide what to do. Leaning towards the 9.5's z06

I think that 285 is about the widest you can put on a 9.5"

I have the 9.5 on all 4 corners of my 95 and it came that way because of the FX3.

If your car is stock I don't think that 11" is going to give you any better handling and then do stick out of the wheel well a bit as you can see in JEFLSA's pic (beautiful car btw )

Great, I think i will stay with 9.5 all the way around, will my current front tires, (mounted on 17x8.5) still fit?

Yes...assuming you have the stock 255/45/17's up front. They will fit a 9.5" wheel but you may eventually want to move up to a 275 or 285.

Oh, and thx Mr. Peabody :o

Check pic to left for Z06's. You can find other pics of them if you search for my posts. Either way (ZR1 or Z06) you'll like them better than the sawblades, I bet!

I sold them here on the forum for $500 shipped...which is about what I paid for the black ones. Worked out well.
