My Carlisle Experience.......
I got off the Carlisle exit of the Pa. Turnpike and there were Vettes everywhere. I was sitting in traffic about an hour and still about 100 feet away from gate 3 to enter the fairgrounds.
I decided to put the car in park and wait for traffic to start moving. Traffic finally satrted to move and I went to put the Vette in Drive and nothing there!!! The shifter went from Park to 1st with no resistence at all!!
Here I am in a line of Corvettes and I'm broke down. :o I think right away it's the transmission cable. But it can't be I just had a new one installed 4 months ago.
Any how the Vette is taken to the local dealer on a slide back.

This is what they found.....

Some how the transmission cable came out of the bracket and fell against the exhaust and burnt it. No wonder it wouldn't shift.
This is the bracket it came out of. Right behind the rubber boot.

I took the bill back to my mechanic and he paid the dealers bill. $528
I got lucky too with the tow only costing $65 to the dealer. I was expectin triple that!
So if I held you up going in to the fairgrounds I apoligize. I wasn't having a very good day but my first year going to C@C won't soon be forgotten.

I give him a big
At least no one was hurt!!! and the bill from the dealer wasn't all that out of line... that's a hard core job to fix that cable!
He is still puzzeled how the "C" clip came out and then the cable jumped out of that bracket 'cause the bracket has a bend in it that almost looks like it would hold the cable should the "C" clip fail.
The book calls for 5.9 hours to do this job. I can certainly see how this would take 6 hours.

Can you tell me the dealship you went to? I am local and I would like to know because it sounds like they did ok by you on this repair. Sorry for the bad day but it sounds like it turned out ok. Nice Car!

As an aside, I used to get annoyed at posts that had large pictures that required me to scroll to the right to read everything (like this one). I now find that these wide pics do have one very valuable side-effect: THEY HELP PUSH THE DAMN ADS
IN THE FIRST POST OFF TO THE SIDE!!

Yeah the Carlisle show is AWESOME. Unless you have been there it's hard to imagine so many vendors and Corvettes all in one place.
It is also so well oragnized many functions could take lessons from these people.
I planned a week vacation around the show and was not dissapointed.
