Default Switching seats

Are the seats in a '96 interchangeable side to side? My driver side seat is beginning to show a little wear. If I could switch the seats she'd be good for another 170,000 miles!!! How about just the cushions?
Regards....SilverBullet

I usually switch mine everytime I change my oil. That way I get an even amount of wear on each seat.

I'm assuming we're not talking about sport seats. My sports in our '92 seem to me to be non-interchangeable.

On the '96 (probably 94-96) it doesn't seem to be that easy to change them, though it might work. The FSM says:

Seatback Removal

Remove or disconnect:

1. Seat cushion
2. Position seatback in upright position to remove tension from adjuster
3. Vacuum hoses from solenoid noting postion and tagging for later installation (sport seat)
4. Harness retainers (sport seat)
5. Seatback adjuster rear bolt
6. Pivot adjuster up and remove cable
7. Bolts, seatback hinge to cushion frame
8. Bolts, rear of seatback to seat adjusters
9. Seatback

Install or connect:

1. Seatback to seat cushion frame
2. Cable to adjuster with tab down
3. Bolts: hinge, seat adjuster and seatback adjuster
Tighten: Seatback hinge bolts to 10 N-m (89 lb. in.)
Seat to adjuster bolts to 27 N-m (20 lb. ft.)
Seatback adjuster rear bolt to 27 N-m (20 lb. ft.)
4. Harness retainers (sport seat)
5. Hoses to solenoid (sport seat)
6. Seat cushion

Good to know about the backs. I recently bought used 94's off someone for my 89 and the driver back needs new foam. The passenger side back is perfect. I was wondering how to do this.

On my 92 the only issue of swapping the entire seat is the recline lever on a different side, and the track covers didn't fit when reversed.

There are various issues swapping the whole seat. For instance mine only has power on the drivers seat. Why swap the whole thing when just changing the cushions is so easy.I even pop mine just to clean them properly, much less of a backbreaking job. When you have done it once it's very simple.
