Default Best Crate Engine?

Im saving up to swap engines and transmission in my '88 C4. I want to swap to a 6 spd and I want a smallblock either a 350 or a 383 with around 400hp with room for plenty more power. I was thinking a Gm crate engine like the zz4 or the zz383. Any recommendations on an engine that wouldnt be too much trouble to swap in? Also I dont plan on keeping the tpi-maybe an lt1 intake conversion?

The 2 Engines U Mentioned Are Made For Carbs, BUT YOU CAN USE FUEL INJECTION

Would they gain or lose power if I added fuel injection?

You'll lose HP going TPI.

Only if you used the stock intake. You could use a Mini Ram, a Super Ram, or even a Stealth Ram (that has been modified to fit under a stock hood) and have just about the same power as a carb, with less headaches.
