Hey all,
I love to drive my 96 LT1, it is now my DD.
I get on it a lot and wonder if I am pushing an old car too much.
I don't drive recklessly or too fast but I do push it maybe too much.
Will my car handle it or am I looking for problems?
I'm not racing or anything but I worry I my be giving too much gas too often. it runs great but as a new DD I don't want to push my luck.
Any comments?
Mileage is pushing 90,000.
It is a tight car and I want to keep it that way but it is just too fun to drive hard.
I'm middleaged so I have nothing to prove but I like the feel of the power when I take off!
A 96 is old car?? When you drive a Vette for any length of time you hear and feel how the car is responding. If you beat the S**T out of it, it will respond by breaking. Grasshopper, become one with your Vette and you can feel it's heartbeat.

This guy is an expert at feeling his car's heart beat. He even likes the song "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles because they get the idea of feeling a heart beating. He liked Don Johnson's Album about said searching for a heartbeat as well. Seriously though, treat it well by maintaining it and repairing correctly when necessary and the car will continue to be nice and enjoyable to own. You can make the cars age nothing but a number with good care.
pkazsr, sorry but those bad jokes had been bottled up and I needed to let go of those crappy songs from my head. You are right, the car will respond accordingly based on treatment. When it breaks, show it some love by fixing it and possibly improving it.
I guess I have nothing to worry about.
I drive hard but I also keep her well maintained.
I must say it feels like my birthday every time I get behind the wheel.
Thanks for the info.
