I'm assuming the car is a Vette? What year?

I had to have my engine rebuilt on my '86. To just have a total rebuild I was looking at $3000. I chose to have a 383 Stroker rebuild (100+ more hp). I have the same heads, cam, and fuel injectors. Cost was alittle over $5000, but well worth it in my opinion. :) ;)

Where can I find out more info on the 383 Stroker ? Who did the rebuild ?
By the way, the '00 Vert is breathtakingly gorgeous !
It is a '92 Convertible that I am looking at.

youre looking at $2-4000 to get a rebuild, but if you hang around here long enough youll eventually want to modify your engine so you might wanna find a performance shop around you to upgrade the parts inside it and maybe bore it out to 383.

Its hard to hang around this BB and not think "more power". I was wondering what buying an LT-4, or the newer c5 engine as a replacement would entail.

Anything can be done for the right amount of money. To put a newer generation of motor in a car requires the computer and wiring, as well as other misc. parts. Unless you're an experienced mechanic. and can tackle it yourself, it would probably cost more than a used C5. If it were me, I'd build a stroker, or buy a different car.

Good luck!

Jimbo - The gentlemen who did my rebuild works on alot of "hot rod" motors, plus he has an '88 Vette so he is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the C4. I like the idea of the 383 because I was able to keep the original engine. One thing which was already mentioned - try to avoid going to a "different" motor - I was thinking LT4 but the cost of getting a new computer, reprogramming, wiring - I was looking at over $10K. Have your original engine rebuilt and modified. Horsepower is only a many of $. :yesnod:

By the way, thanks for the compliment on the 2000 :)

Wow, over 10k is more than I intend to get the car for in the first place, so I can squeeze in a rebuild that is almost certainly needed. Now I have to find someone good here in Cherry Hill, NJ !
