I am in need of help on my 1994 corvette,it has automatic ac control and will not turn off.I push the off button and nothing happens, I have removed the fuse thinking it would reset its self but that did not happen any advice ???
When mine sticks on auto, I push the recirculate to change the mode. Or push any button to try and trick the system. Then after a few minutes it will work right again.
Could be the contacts, but before you tear it apart, check the Blower Module Fuse - 5 amps - usually labled MDL in the fuse box. Your Processor (the Programmer), monitors the actual voltage delivered to the Blower Motor. If that circuit opens, the Blower can continue to run even with the ignition off. If the fuse is blown and it continues to blow with a replacement, the circuit is shorted to ground or the Blower Module is shot.
Are you sure that it is the AC and not just the blower? I had that problem with my 87. The blower would stay on even when I turned the engine off. I had to disconnect the battery to stop it or it would kill the battery. I had to replace a relay to fix it.I'm trying to remembor all the specifics, but I remember that the dealer wanted $534 for the relay. GM parts direct wanted $278. Discount auto parts charged me around $118 for the same bosch relay. You cannot get the Bosch part from Bosch. I received the Bosch part in a GM package from Discount.
Just know that there isn't a Blower Relay with Electronic Air. Circuitry is contained in a Module mounted on the Evaporator Case (actually it sits inside of it enveloped in big heat sink). It gets low voltage signals from the Processor (Programmer for your Year) and that voltage is then amplified to control blower speed. You just might, to rule out some sort of memory glitch, disconnect and reconnect the battery first. Doesn't do much on the earlier Years, but the system became a little more sophisticated starting with the '90 and that sometimes helps.
