Default Heater Help

Hey Everyone,

My heater seems to not be working right. The other day I needed it for the first time since purchasing it in spring, but to my dismay no heat was coming out. The motor is blowing, and I dont have any antifreeze smell or sense of moisture on the passenger side. Checking the hoses going into the fire wall, they are both hot, but still no heat. The electronic climate control module is flipping out on me, could this be the reason for the lack of heat? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the temp door is not opening. There has been a few good threads lately, on this problem. A quick search should keep you reading for a while. Here's some info from my 86, just ignore the vacuum controlled water valve, I don't think the 89 has it.

THanks 86 for the link. In order to fix it, do I need to buy a new temperature door, or do I need to replace the electronic climate control module?

Your going to have to diagnose the problem. Could be the clip on rod, motor, controller etc.
Lots of info in this thread. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...highlight=heat

Thanks everyone for the help. Next weekend I will start taking stuff apart to see whats the matter. Hopefully that rubber seal is just hanging up the heater temperature door.

How do I get to the temperature door from the hush panel? I just took it off and all I can see is an endless mass of wires.

Don't just assume it's the temp door. On my 93 I was able to remove a small cover on the firewall side and watch it open. I too thought that if both heat hoses were hot the core was not plugged. That turned out to be an incorrect assumption. I was able to flush the heater core with a water hose attached to one of the hoses going through the firewall and had the other hose spilling into a bucket. Lots of junk came out and the heater was salvaged. This may or may not be your problem. As stated before, there are lots of threads on this. Good luck.
