Default California Duster

Hey guys, just looking for some opinions on using those dust brushes. I have never used anything other than washing my car when it was dusty. With this drought here in Ga. looks like it will be awhile before any more car washing in the drive-way will be allowed. Thanks

I use them all the time here in Las Vegas since we have a lot of dust due to the dry climate and the desert. My general approach is I cover my Vette at night in the garage to prevent dust build up. After I drive out to work I give it a quick dust off if needed. After I drive home I definitely dust it off before the cover goes on. I find that if you're consistent with keeping it dusted off using the California Duster you can keep your Vette looking real good for quite awhile without washing. If the dust gets heavy for any reason say due to high winds...I wash it before dusting it or covering it again. I am also careful to keep a good coat of wax on the Vette at all times. I'm pretty satisfied with the performance of the California Duster.

I've used one for years and it's worth every penny. Caution: Squelch the urge to wash it when it becomes dirty - it's a big no-no.

I have a duster, it works well.
In your case, with the drought, I would use a Chamois in a bucket of water, when the car gets real dirty.

California duster works great! I have a black vette and it gets pretty dusty in my neighborhood because we have woods behind the house. I recommend it.

Make sure you lie the new Duster on a newspaper for about 24 hours to get the excess resin off or it will smudge your car. Use light pressure and let it glide over the surface. Don't use it on a dirty car, just for a dusty car. They really work great.

I took my family to Disney World this past June and the highlight of the trip for me was going shopping in one of those Big Lots mark down stores and finding the California Duster on sale for 7 bucks. I bought 4!

Just make sure you got a good coat of wax on and it wont hurt anything.

My dad religiously dusted his old camaro and now his new truck. No paint issues, no scratches, etc. Just make sure its clean enough (no big particles) and you got a coat of wax on.

Actually they recomend hand washing and air drying when the duster gets real nasty. I have done this with no ill effects.

From thier website:

"Because of a special permanently baked in paraffin treatment, The Original California Dusters are made to provide years of effective service without the need for cleaning. Simply shake them out before and after each use. The "dirtier" they get the better they work.

If you find it necessary to clean your Duster because it is too dirty or if the Duster stops lifting dust, it can be washed. You may hand wash your Duster in cold water with a mild detergent such as Woolite, then air dry. Do not use hot water to wash or hot air to dry, as heat or harsh detergent may remove the special paraffin treatment."

Just remember it's a duster, not a wash cloth. Use it to remove light surface dust. It won't clean the car. I suggest you first give it a thorough washing then a good coat of wax. The duster will work great. Also consider getting a bottle of Meguiar's "Quick Detailer" and a few micro fiber towels.
