Are you wanting to use this in the engine compartment? If so, I wouldn't. There are to many electronic pieces that can be damaged. And if you need water to wash that stuff off, then you are really asking for trouble... Some folks use water on the engine compartment, but I wouldn't advise it. Especially if you have an opti-spark.
If you are wanting a clean engine compartment. Just start wiping everything down with wet towels. Use simple green to get the tough stuff off. Once everything is clean, then you can detail with items like interior/tire cleansers, armor all, Mothers back to black, etc.
Good Luck
Used both gunk and simple green, both worked real well. Ditto what the others said about covering the alt/dist and go to town. Never had a problem after pressure washing it off. Just pay attention...If you can, blow everything off with compressed air.

The can will tell you to run the engine and get it warm. This will help remove the grease BUT it wil also catch fire from the exhaust manifold. I had this happen on my 84. Lucky I was at the car wash and was able to put it out with the spray wand. SOO be carefull and have the hose ready!
