Default C4 Emblem differences ????

I have my 87 emblems kind of faded out
i want to put brand new emblems (hood and gas door)
i found a set,but it says 1991 to 1996

and here is the 1984 to 1990

What are the differences apart of the red background ?
i think the ones on the car are bolt on not sure on this ones !
are the bolt or pins on the back different on the 84-90 and 91-96 ?
i think mine has some nuts from the other side of the door for attaching securely and no one can stole it ,but im not sure i dont remember
what you think ?
thanx a lot

Hi there having both a 90 and a 91 I can tell you there is no difference other than the color. The problem is the OEM emblems that were originally installed on the cars were both threaded and nutted from behind the emblem (this process used by GM imho was ). Just pull the rear gas lid and you will notice the nuts.

All the replacements I have seen from the parts houses however has a solid core pins (no threads) that would need to be cut with a acorn style compression nut that cuts the solid core pins as the move down the shaft. (this process imho) Here’s the problem they will snap off sometimes during this process. A lot of folks these days just use the adhesive

My car had no emblems on it when I got it, apparently they were removed to facilitate the paint job, I bought chrome ones from the chevy dealer and used both the glue and acorn nuts to hold the new ones on. Didn't seem that hard to do.

You'll have a gap underneath the emblemns.
The foam padding addesive cushions the emblemn from vibraing and scuffing your paint. It also works as a gap diffferintial closure.
The emblemns have an adhesive as well as the acron nuts. Use the stock material.

Have fun putting the nuts on the front emblem. I know I did.

It's totally blind and completely stretched out to reach down and up in the holes.

Put the nuts into a deep-well 1/4" socket on a short extension first, and then thread 'em on by hand so you can feel them get started before you tighten them with a socket wrench.

The adhesive backing will keep the emblem in place while you do this.

No threads. The split-nuts dig into the pot-metal studs as you turn them.

They're actually friction nuts.

Do Not over-tighten them.
