Yea it's sad. Someone once told me that if you take a brand new car, and part it out, you will have more money than you paid for it if you advertise the parts as brand new, and discount them 10% from list.
It's sad that there are shrinking numbers of C4's, and some people are sitting back and just waiting for their junker corvette that they didn't take care of, to turn it into real money from it's parts.

If you think it's bad here follow the C3 guys. There, parting out is a common occurance. Get any four C3 guys together and they can practically build a car out of their spare parts. But when you start working with neglected 35 year-old cars, sometimes there is no saving them.
On the other hand, that's good news when you are looking for rare C3 parts.......
Recently there was a post here where somone sold an LT1 for $16K. The immediate concensus from some quarters was that the Vette was over priced and congradulations for taking advantage of the new owner. Why? The Vette was solid, tastefully modified, low mileage and in seemingly excellent condition. Why isn't it worth $16K? The owner set his price, put it on the open market and got it. More C4/C5 owners should do the same. It would change the pre-owned Vette market overnight while making preservation and restoration of the existing platforms all the more satisfying.
Thank God for saying this!
Sorry, but the only place I see C4's degraded is on this forum.
( and of course, in OT )
In my town, my '95 is perceived as an expensive indulgence.
I see local market prices FAR above the consensus here.
I'm affraid that we are our own worst enemies when we de-value
our cars, for all the world to see, in this public forum.
