Navigation install
. I love seeing great work. anything added to your car and having it look like factory is a job well done. what does a unit like that run? are you happy with the unit? what made you choose that GPS setup?. sorry for all the ?'s, I'm looking to change out my Bose setup too.TIA -Harry
I did a lot of homework before I got it. My number one concern was ipod integration. The ipod controls are fast and easy. Many other brands I tried were crap in that department. I love having 250 cds at the touch of a finger.
Another big thing for me was this unit makes it easy to bypasss the nanny features (having the ebrake on to acess stuff). On some units, if you just keep the ebrake wire grounded the navigation won't work so it forces you hook it up properly. This unit doesn't have any negative effects from bypassing it. I am able to change an address at a stop light without playing with the brake.
Navigation works flawlessly. I could probably drive blindfolded. It divides the country up into groups of a few states so when you input an address it can quickly find it instead of searching the database of the whole country. The second I attached the power to it, it said my address on the screen. It knew exactly where the car was parked. All of the us and canada are on one disc. There are two drives in this unit. One is for the nav disc and the other is for either a cd or dvd.
Some stuff I don't use but it does:
Dvds play fine. Picture quality is nice and sound is excellent. I honestly only played one once when I first got it just to try it out. That really wasn't a selling point since I knew I'll never use it.
It has an A/V input if you wish it install a video game system. Tried it once and worked great.
It has an A/V output if you want to install an additional monitor in the sunvisors. Or maybe if you have tons of cash you can install some in the seat backs for the people behind you to watch.
It has a camera input. I think it's easy enough to see out the back of our cars without it so I never bothered. It uses a special connector that has power and video in it so you will only need to run that one wire. A lot of other units make you run video and power separately.
Sirius, hd radio, tv tuner, and remote control are available for it but I never really looked into any of that stuff.
