Default Frozen or Stuck Threads .........

What are the best products to use to remove a bolt when it seems that the threads are locked to the bolts. Some people apply heat with a torch but that isn't always practical. WD40 might work in a light case of thread lock. I also use PB Blaster. Any other good suggestions?

R134a to freeze it. Someone came out with something in a can to freeze the bolt, making it contract, Wally World even selles it now in the Automotive section.
A long time ago when Freon was like .40 cents a can I used it on a Cadillac distributer to freeze the shaft that was stuck , it worked!

Not so much the locking, as the disappearing threads.

In the case of lock-tight I use a propane torch. It melts the lock tight and the bolts come right out.

Impact tools also can help break a corroded bolt loose. Less likely to strip threads than just pulling on it.

I've tried em all and PB blaster works better than anything else IMO. A good impact wrench can do wonders as mentioned before. I try to let it soak overnight. Put an impact on it, soak it some more, impact again. Patience is key. That, or you could allways use the 'hotwrench'.

oh yeah, IBFTL

[knooger] I'd tap that [/knooger]

I must add, my Dremel tool is one of the most important tools in my tool box now. (I don't have a blow torch, otherwise that would be #1, )

Changing the front brake pads a few years ago on my Blazer, I broke the caliper bolt head off while trying to remove it. I had to go to work in less than an hour, and I was a little upset. Called the local garage to see if they could torch it out, "Sure, bring it in 2 days from today"

So, I go out and re-assess the situation. I can see the stud between the outside edges of the caliper. Got out my Dremel, put a grinding wheel on it, and cut the stud, wiggled the caliper out, and put a "Vise-grips" on the end of the stud threaded into the caliper. There's a Napa store less than a half mile from my house. Bought a caliper stud rebuild kit. Made it to work on time that day.

Yeah, Kroil or Aerokroil (in an aerosol can) is the best penetrant you can use.

I use it in conjuction with heat, cold, hammer-raps, and welding on another bolt...................never had it fail.

PB Blaster and Impact Driver. The hand held type, not air or electric. Worked great for me on several really tough bolts.
