In Corvettes, there was only one year, 1996. GM used the LT1 in Camaros and Impalas, possibly some trucks, but it was detuned from the Corvette motor. How do you know that it is LT4?
Trucks used a "vortec" V8, its not an LT1 or Lt4. Blocks are good though. In (pretty sure) 2000 they went to the LS based motor and also called it a "Vortec". The pre LS ones were reliable but dont expect any power out of them.
I have documentation on the conversion. It was a special build of a 92 Blazer with a LT4 and a Vortech supercharger, coupled to a 4L60E trans.
Was told there are differences like opti spark vent tube, etc. Thought there might be block casting number or some indetifiable way . Is there also a way of having the PCM based lined so I know what I have?
Thanks Again!
According to the Black Book, early heads were #10239902, later ones were #12555690. Blocks were the same, LT4 was basically a head & compression ratio change, cam, and roller rockers, 6300 rpm redline.

I think we need more info....
I have a 'Vette '92 with an LT-1...Lt-4 didn't exist then.
I have owned a '95 Blazer that had a 4.2 v6 in it..
How did you come to own a '92 Blazer with an LT-4????
I didnt build it, I just found it and bought it. I can look in the oil fill opening and see the roller rockers. Just going to restore it back to like new. This was a feature truck in Sport Truck mag back in 1995. Just want to make sure, if needed the right year opti-spark, etc. Want to know if
Ii can some how baseline the PCM so I know what I have.
Will post some pics as soon as I take some.

If it was built pivately and featured in a mag in 1995 then it is not an original LT4 engine, GM didn't release them into production until 1996. It could very well be an LT1 conversion originally, which was then later swapped over to the LT4 heads and intake. Either way, sounds like a fun ride!
could be a real LT-4 depending on when it was swapped, however highly doubtful. The vehicle originally came with a 4.3 V-6. Basically a 350 with 2 less cylinders. The vortec designation started in V-8s in 96, V-6s in 92. It was the tpi injection that gave it the vortec name

The Blazer (S10 size) came with the 4.3 V6
The Tahoe (Full size) was available with the 5.7 Vortec V8
I agree with some of the others. This was not a factory conversion.
On this year's Hot Rod Power Tour, there was a Blazer (S-10) with an LT4 in it. The guy was from Oklahoma, and had a pretty cool sounding truck. So, I went over to take a look and found the LT4 sitting under the hood. A custom shop had done the conversion.
I've seen a few LT-1/4 truck conversions. Even thinking about it for my 89 chevy, but I'll probably go with a 383 stroker L98! Wether or not you have an LT-1 or LT-4, it's a great motor! Most of your parts, minus the head and intake, should be the same.

They didn't release them until Model Year 1996. The cars were physically for sale probably by August or September 1995.

True, but for this car to have been featured in a magazine in 1995 would have forced someone to buy an LT4 corvette, then rip the engine out and put in the truck...unless it was a totalled car I don't see that happening. And even if it was a totalled car, I doubt anyone would have been able to do it in the time frame.

I'm not saying that's what was in his car. I've no idea. I'd think a read of the article would explain it though.
But you don't think GM had crate/replacement motors for sale at the same time or shortly after the 'vette was for sale?
