Default 87 dash help

my first vette (87 blue on blue conv.) trouble with interior lights.they work with headlight **** but not when doors are opened.I bought a interior delay light timer and found out its behine right side dash(if this is the problem ?) I would like to know how the face of the dash comes off,I see some screws but I'am afraid of breaking any clips or something else. the car is in very good shape and i don't want to mess it up.
thanks Bob

I had my 87's dash apart several times. I'll take a look at mine when I get home.

Yes, its behind the right side dash. Mine was taped to the wiring harness.

The only panel that needs to come off is the lowest kick panel; the one with the small heater duct and the light in it. Just a few phillips heads hold it in place.

The breadbox and the carpeted panel don't need to come off, but the tradeoff is that its tight in there and you'll have to be on your head in the footwell to see up in there.

Did you try to snug up the door switches to at least get a flicker out of the lights?

Just a question - when you say that you bought an interior light delay module - Where? To my knowlwedge they are simply out of production and discontinued everyplace. Unavailable. I'd love to know where I could find a new one...
