Technically white and black arent colors they are highlights and shades... but anyways white looks awesome on the C4s.... especially with red guts... almost bought one in white but things fell through.
My first car was white and i loved that color. I then went black and won't go back. But if i had to pick white is pretty high on the list of good colors for a vette.
When I was looking for a C4, my first choice was red or black.
I wasn't crazy about white when I found my car but now I love it.
It looks great with the black windows, tires etc.
It has a classy look to it.
I like the white, if it was more common on Vettes, maybe not so much. There's a school of thought that Vettes deserve a flashy color. Another one that says the style speaks for itself.
White is a nice traditional color for the car. If the car is maintained and you like it, get it.
That said, white is the hardest color to get to have a *pop* as far shine and reflectivity. White can look good, but it is hard to achieve depth.
That is my only complaint with it. I have a white camaro. No matter how much I try it never looks all that clean. It kind of just changes to a whiter shade of white. It never has the depth of my black car. Seeing the mirror like finish on black makes it much more satisfying to clean. I still like it and would own a white vette. White with a red interior is high up on my list.
Ive owned several White vettes,I currently have a white on Red '85,it is among my favorites. I had it repainted in the original color, but in Pearl,it is absolutely awesome combined with the red leather. I had an 81 with the same colors and a 54,which of course had the "polo" white.
Years ago I had a 1969 Vette that was CanAm White with Saddle interior. That was a nice looking car. When I went searching for my next Vette white was at the top of my list with either gray or tan interior. I know white over red is a very popular Corvette combo but it's not my favorite. Didn't matter anyway as I ended up buying a Dark Red Metallic coupe. What color a car is was never a factor to me anyway. It's nothing a coat of paint won't fix.
White is not my favorite, and yet I bought a white/red early C4. It's grown on me quite a bit. It has a classic look to it. White on the C5 isn't so good, white on the C6 rocks.
At the factory tour in Bowling Green they told us white is the only color that has been continuously on the "color wheel" for Corvettes. It is by far the least popular color for a new Corvette, but Chevrolet is keeping it for the historical aspect. The first Corvette was white/red.
I like just about every color there is, but to me, white and black convey luxury; red, yellow, and blue communicate sports; and other colors are personal colors or colors that are chosen because it grabs you. I personally like the red copper color of my wife's Audi as well as the metalic red of my vette. I have been told by some that my metalic red seems to be more pearled than normal. I've also seen metalic reds that seem more candied than normal.
