Default Low/Flat tire indicator

Hello to all.
It recently got colder in Texas and the last 2 days I drove my 96 VERT CE out of it's warm garage to work. When leaving the parking lot in the evening, the LOW\FLAT tire warning light came on. The 1st evening I shut it off in the parking lot and kicked the tires. When I started it again the light reappeared. On my way home I stopped off at Discount Tire and checked the pressure (ALL 4 had 33-PSI) . When I started the car and drove home the warning light never came back on . The next day I drove to work with no problems. When I left work in the evening the LOW/FLAT Tire indicator came on again before I left the parking garage . This time I drove 3\4 of the way home and at a stop light I shut the car off and restarted it. The light never came back on .
Are the pressure monitoring devices in any way suseptable to cold weather? Is one possibly going bad? Has anyone had this happen to them? Do I need a CODE READER to diagnose this issue?

Also, A Christmas gift for myself is going to be a CODE READER . Can someone suggest a good quality, easy to operate and easy on the pocket book model.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

P.S. Nobody better tell me to try a different parking lot!

It's possable one of the sensors id going bad. I don't know how cold it got by you but I can't imagine these things being affected by weather. Even if many Corvettes aren't driven in cold weather they would certainly have been built to do so.

Thanks JRZ. It's only in the high 30's low 40's. Pretty cold for Texas, Ha! I'm hoping someone will chime in with the code reader to purchase. I am assuming that is the only way to determine which one is bad?

I don't believe you need a code reader for LPTWS faults. If your familiar with The data line connector you can retrieve codes by grounding terminal (s) 6 to 5. The code will then be sent to the dic as a series of flashes.

Do a search on LPTWS. There are many articles on that system that will help.

Red, Thanks for the input. I was under the impression that the old paper clip trick did not work on the 95 \ 96's. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks for the help!!!!

LPTWS system = PITA/POS
After having one sensor band break at over 100 MPH (that was exciting), at least one other sensor failed (18K mile car no less), and spending hundreds of bucks for replacements, I'm THIS CLOSE to removing all the sensors and DIC bulb and being done with it for good.
Junk.
