Is there a somewhat simple way to remove and replace the Instrument Cluster component in a 93 Coupe?? I finally removed mine yesterday but it came out with extreme prejudice. I removed the bezel and then the cluster lens to be able to rotate it around somewhat but getting it around the steering wheel and column met with a high degree of difficulty. I am going to replace it this afternoon but was checking to see if there were any K.I.S.S. options that I was missing.

Floyd did you drop the steering wheel? If you didnt im surprised you didnt break the trim and such. Losen the tilt lever. Remove the drivers side hush panel. 2 screws on the left panel and 5 underneath where your feet go. I suggest removing the screw that holds the ALDL connector and unplugging the hush panel light so you can move the entire hush panel out of the way. Then remove the metal support plate that the hush panel screws into and then remove the tilt lever (you leave it in until the last minute as you may have to jocky the steering wheel up an down while your working on it) Now drop the two nuts holding the steering wheel. The job will be so much easier.
Also Floyd if I may suggest buy a used Factory Service Manual (FM) for your 93. The pictures and step by step procedures are invaluable. Buy the big red Helms book only, the white ones are not complete.

Daryll -- Thanks. Guess I was trying to do it in what I thought was going to be the easy way. I do have the correct service manuals that I just bought from another member but my dumb butt didn't think I'd need it for this one. I wasn't too sure about doing anything with the steering column, kinda like the first time you open up a computer to replace a part. Thanks again, Floyd
I just got my instrument cluster cetification too. I dropped the wheel several times before I finally sent the cluster off for a rebuild. It's back in now and working fine.

LOL im a certified member in this club (now) . Last time I replaced the instrument cluster lens the entire job was done in 30 Mins. The old lens was gouged and scratched by the previous owner

Understood after you get in there a few times its really pretty easy just a PITA and back for that matter to work upside down. Easier with the seat out but not really nessary to go to that extreme. Good luck. D

I like to keep the seat in. That way I can hold up the steering wheel with the left arm and reach under with my right to balance the support bracket and start the bolts. The fewer items you have to remove, the better.

I had to replace mine too. I put in white guages while I was in there.

TTB you must be a real smealt guy. Im 6'2" and 240 and its a little tight. But the less to remove and get the job done always works for me.

Hey Tommy, how long was it away on the rebuild? and how much did it cost ? I'm sure mine needs service.

Turn around was about two weeks. Cost me $325 plus shipping up there. No return charge for shipping. The whacky tach was repaired and all of the bulbs and sockets since the bulbs I bought online did not fit the sockets in the dash. The lcd screen was not reading in the daytime and barely at night because one of the bulbs was fried. They test the entire system to insure accuracy of all guages. Plus they gave me a new lens cover since I shipped the unit only minus the cover.
this is how I did mine

Hey Bill - there is a "related topics" or "related threads" feature (which you can disable) which often directs you to a thread you didn't really intend to post in. You have posted about your C-2 '67 in the C-4 section (1984-1996) and this thread is from 2007! You might want to put it in C1-2. I'll see you there, I have one of each!
