WOW!!! The price difference between those two for a 1227165 (86-89) is BIG. Wonder why. I have an opportunity to buy 20 1227165 for $20.00 each. Maybe I'll give that offer some serious thought.
I found one on E Bay for 75.00 for a 93. Look for just LT1 parts and then look for the part number you need. They used the same ones in Firebirds and Camaros, they just have a different PROM. You can use your old PROM.
93 ECMs are tough to locate. Even the sites listed above do not have any in stock even tho they list they have them. The pop up once in awhile on Ebay. Maybe you should expand your search. The 93 uses the same ECM as a 92. As a previous poster said check the Firebird/Camaro ECMs too.
my friend is parting out his 1993 Z28, he is trying to sell his 6 speed harness & ECM for $300.00. i do not know if this is a good deal or not. i just happened to notice that he is parting it out and he wants to sell these together. thx spordee1
Service number is everything. You look for one that has the same number as yours.
You can also try (Car-Part.com) I found one on their website.
By the way, once these ECM's have been repaired by the factory they become another service number. So there are two part numbers for you to search for, origional part no. and Reman part number. Call a Chevy dealer and ask them for the reman number then start your search again.
Since I mentioned the Camaros and Firebirds using the same ECM earlier, I have been advised by a mechanic I know to check LT1 SS Impalas and LT1 Cadillacs for 1992 and 1993.
Just learned from dealer parts guy that there is a limited supply of ECM cores to remanufacture, so there are limited ECM's to buy. I take this to mean that most people are getting used ones and tossing the old so they are not getting anywhere that they can be remanufatured and reused. You'd think that somebody would have a place to send them and get paid for the cores ??
I just had my ecm rebuilt and it took about 10 days and cost me $107 bucks. The name of the place is called Zip products. The web site is www.zip-corvette.com, phone#1-800-962-9632. I would advise that you don't use any other ecm besides the one for the 93 Vette because of the complex electrical and alarm system that the 93 Vette has.
I read in the fsm that many people attribute problems to the ecm, but 99% of the time they are wrong. Something to think about before replacing. Sure would be a bummer to still have the problem.
