Congrats! I love my 84! Don't know what kind, if any maintenance has been done to your car recently. Get it checked out before you drive it that distance, anything can happen quickly on an old car. Might want to consider getting it shipped to you.
Simple things
Check all the hoses for dry rotting
Check the oil, change it if you can it will not hurt.
Trans fluid...smell ok. smell burnt?
Pull the cap and check the coil wires to make sure they are not cracked or have any evidence of arcing.
Tires dry rotted? How old are they?
How old is the gas?
They are great cars, a lot of fun enjoy it and be safe.
Congrats on the car. You sure can't beat the price. Bring it home and the more you drive it, the more you will think of things you want to do. You will also discover the things it needs. Your grandmother probably kept it in pretty good shape.
Thanks everyone!!! Sounds like the concensus is to fly down and get her, well I will graciously accept any monetary donations I suppose I could post some pics in return for your favor lol.... But anyway thanks for the great welcome guys, & maybe girls I dont know. And if I do know one thing about old Vettes I am sure you will be seeing a lot more of me in the upcoming monthes most likely in the "Help" Section!
Thanks for the clarification TRace. I found a pic, it's not the best quality but it is the best I can find right now. I set it as my avatar because I'm not sure how to post it in the thread. Man I cant wait!!! Oh, and by the way I'm from Massillon, OH

Welcome to the best vette forum on the net! Post info about your new ride, color inside and out, miles, aftermarket accessories your grandmom may have had installed and of course the PHOTOS. For posting pics go to photobucket and sign-up then you can upload photos and link the photos in your postings. And make you a signiture block to use occasionally in your postings.
Unless you can perfectly execute the travel in between storms and unforeseen issues, I would wait till spring or
trailer the car. Corvettes and snow = Florsheims and ice...
Monetary Donation?
Get a Bus ticket like I said in my earlier post! No offense but I got the idea that you didn't have the funds to move it to you quickly. That is why you have to move it to you, economically!
In any case, like I said, You need to go get your Girl!
I may be a bit of a butt-#^*(, but if the car is yours. YOU need to earn/come-up with enough cash to go get her!
No Offense and Take Care, -John
