No, I would'nt think so. None of my cars do that. Maybe check radiator cap to see if its working properly

It helps us help you if you have a completed profile. I suggest you fill it out.
It's probably the cap. In any regard, it's definitely not normal.

Might be time for new hoses as well.
When you replace the rad cap get a regular cap NOT the lever release one (they leak).

on start/warm up,coolant expands and excess coolant is forced past the rad cap, thru the small hose, to the overflow tank...on shutdown/cooling the reverse should happen as liquid contracts causing low pressure in the engine/rad...crud build-up in the bottom of the coolant tank or the small hose can hinder return flow and hoses collapse... really ''soft'' (old) upper/lower rad hoses may ''implode'' due to low internal pressure on cool-down even if tank/hose is clear...a '''bad'' rad cap ocassionally can upset ''breathing'' and cause rad hoses action noted...not ''normal'', but not unusual, just not noticed by most.

I have a lever type on mine and it has not leaked for a few years now.
I like the lever type so I can quickly vent a hot system to work on the car if need be.
