This is the audio project that I'm finishing up on now.
I installed the Sony xsplode stereo and attached to it is a SonyXplod XM-554zr 4/3 channel amp and installed it inside the inclosure.
I cut and fabbed the speaker box to fit the back compartment.
I still have to install the 6x9s either somewhere in front or at the front bottom of the inclosure, the magnets are to deep for the back speaker places, they are also Xplod 250 watts with 25 oz magnets.
I might have to exclude them.
The bass in it already messages the back of your body when it thumps and the mids and highs are crisp also.
Please feel free to suggest where to place the 6x9s in the front compartment, and my body cavities don't count.
P.s. My Vette is an 84 coupe.
how about in your doors? bose options have speakers in the doors but if your car didnt come with bose the holes are still in the door just not the door panel. i have seen pics where people have put speakers in there either replacing the bose or adding to a non bose system. only thing is the non bose doors wont have the plastic compartment the speaker sits into so you may havto figure out how to mount the speaker there. (never mounted ones myself just know its doable) I dont know how big your speakers are but without the plastic speaker compartment in the door there is quite a bit of space there. i suppose you could mount the speaker to the door panel itself but if it was me i wouldnt id just mount the speaker to the door and just speaker cover to the door panel. that way wouldnt have to disconnect speaker for panel removal if necessary.

I'll try that,I know it had the bose with the amps but the speakers were toast.
they were round ones I think, these are 6x9 ovals,I'll take the door panel off tonight and see.
Thanks for the reply.
I have always struggled with the sound system question - I love a good quality sound, but I hate the look of a big box and speakers. I want to hear it but I don't want to see it, which is damn near impossible on a Vette. On the coupe it's out in plain daylight under the hatch (whcih is also a security risk), and on a vert it chews up too much storage space.
My old 91 Coupe had an aftermarket system, with a small amp in the back, for which I built a cover (14x14X4) and carpeted it in the same colour as the interior. My 96 vert still has the stock system and it sounds better than the aftermarket one did, so I'll stick with what I've got.
Your set-up looks nice and clean though - and ultimately it's your car, so if you're happy with it that's all the matters.

well if yours has bose you have the plastic enclosure there. if you have no plan on putting a stock bose system back in there ya should be able to get the plastic out to give ya some more room in there. I have had the door panels off and i know the door opening is big enough for 6x9 im just not 100% youll get one in there with the plastic piece in the door.
Yeah,I took the plastic amp enclosure out and I'm pretty sure that I'll have enough room for the magnets, and if not I'll just have to get speakers with smaller magnets.
I'll have to wait till I get new carpet to really match the interior.
The car was origionally Gold with tan or brown carpet, then it got stolen and it was repainted the color it is now and they spray painted the carpet with black stuff that is fading out.
It looks like Micheal Jackson, It's splochy with black and light brown patches, especially where the sun hits.
Put 5 1/2'' or 6 1/2'' speakers in the doors. The 6x9's would fit in the rear factory locations.
I'm pulling my Infinity 6 1/2'' component speakers out of my doors due to upgrade. I may put them up for sale on the forum. If I do, they will come with the mounting baffles I made, and tweeters already installed in the bezels.
