I couldn't resist this topic as I have a c4 (92 6speed coupe 31k) and a cts -v (got new now 25 k). Flogged both and agree with most of what is said. The v is difficult to lauch but with practice and with the help of a slipping clutch the 400 ft lbs of toque will pull near even. Where the v shines is when the ls6 starts to breath. It really marches though the upper revs and seems to leap when the tac gets to 4.5k. The ls6 is a more "peaky" motor than the lt1 and will find the limiter in an instant.
The v doesn't feel that much heavier on lauch and can produce grip of 1.14 g's (my meter says so) however it is much more a challenge to go fast that the vette. The v seems much higher off the ground and the body roll can be substantial even with the stiff shock set up. The biggest difference is in the steering. The v needs much more input and seems much slower. By contrast the vette can change direction and back by (it seems) just thinking.
Me and my 1 1/2 year old boy both love both but I think he likes the vette better because he can make the headlights go up and down.
The CTSV is heavy and gets 13-14 mpg the Vette LT1 gets 17.5
mpg thats around town. The CTSV isnt very areodynamic.
Its got that flat front end. The CTSV is over 600lbs heavier than a Corvette.
I was thinking that the cts-v would be faster but after hearing that it is horrible on the launch. I think it would be a great race since the vette is great in the low end and the cts-v is great in the top end. I think it would be close at the end if both drivers new what they are doing. I wonder how a A4 would do against the cts-v. Think it might get it. I don't know what do you guys think.
