Hey guys I just bought a 1984 corvette and I heard the Z51 option on this year was the best being that it “can” pull a 1G on the skid pad…I have the original window sticker and that option was checked off, yet the price was only $200 or something that was real low…I read somewhere else that the Z51 option was $600…so does that mean I have the Z51 suspension or not?

According to the Black Book in 1984 RPO Z51 cost $600.20, don't know why your window sticker would say $200.
If the window sticker is indeed for your car (check the VINs) then, yes, you have Z51 unless a previous owner replaced some of the parts to soften the ride. 84s had a very stiff ride even with the base suspension, the Z51 made it extremely harsh.

Over half of all 84's had Z51 suspension, ironically making the base more rare. Probably the number one complaint about 84's was their ride quality.
Just look behind the drivers seat under the storage tray. In all those codes it must say Z51. You could buy the shocks seperate without the rest of the package. The shocks option FG3 was $189.00. The Z51 option was $600.20.
Oh ok ill check the rims...I guessing that the size would be cast on the rim its self?..The person before me replaced them with the same size tires all the way around
just look on the inside of the wheels and the fronts should say "install left side, right side only" and the rears should say "install right, or left rear only
Been hashing this one over at the NCRS DG. A literal break down of the Black Book for Z51 would include Heavy duty front and rear springs Stabilizer bars (FE7) and bushings (Z51) Heavy Duty front and rear shocks (NOT FG3, But F51), Fast Steering (Z51), Engine Oil Cooler (KC4), Extra Radiator Fan Pusher/HD Radiator (rpo can't remember) and P255/50VR16 tires and alloys (GZD) w/9.5" rears. When ordered it broke the Z51 into the other RPO codes. All Z51s are FE7s and KC4s The $51 dollar fee is the Z51 only additions (Bushings/wheels) . The rest of the $600 came out of KC4, FE7 etc... FYI All BGK built FG3s (Delco Bilstien shocks) were Z51s but not all Z51s were FG3s. In particular the FG3 option was not available in the beginning production. Lots of FG3 were over the counter or dealer adds.... One other thing, the production numbers in black book for the individual codes, only list the non Z51 builds. SO if all Z51s came with the KC4 oil coller you add Z51 production to KC4 production listed in Black Book so there were really (25,995 + 4,295) 30,290 KC4s installed in 1984.. Not so rare eh.. Eric

A couple of times I've been in long sweeping turns in my totally stock, not that great running, 1/2 bald tire's, posi slipping "84" ( Z-52 no less ). Following a new vette. As I catch up to him in a turn, I can see his eye's in his rear view "He's still behind me"? A new vette tailgates me into a turn - as I pull away from him - I see him pushing on his steering wheel to go faster When the road straightens out they pull away like Lone Stars Winnebago in Space *****
1G hell ya

On my 1989 window sticker it says "Performance Handling Package" $575
I have a "true" Z51 with all the suspension and cooling enhancements, and no FX3.
You need to find all your RPO's and check them against the RPO FAQ at the top of the page. I don't think you have a Z51.
