How hard and how much time did it take to replace your pad with the flat plate? I have the part, but the instructions look like they were printed in Taiwan. They talk about cutting, etc. and I would like to avoid in the event the pad needs to go back in.
I tried reaching in thru the side of the dash with a hacksaw to cut the brackets, I know some people have done it that way but I was having no luck. So I took the top dash pad off so I could see what the he-- I was doing. That made it pretty easy,I was able to snip the rivets that hold the crash pad brackets and keep everything intact, now if ever I decide to re-install I have a complete pad. So except for a little extra work and time about 2 hours, taking the dash pad off worked for me. JMO
