I think the A/C and ASR needs to be moved out of the way then it should pull out.

I've also got a set of Hooker shorties going on this spring. Are you changing the rest of the exhaust too? If you leave the stock system on, let us know if it changed the sound or performance any.

I'm doing the same mod. I already purchased hookers headers and I need to buy longer bolts. I installed Magnaflows SS Mufflers yesterday and I noticed that my resonator needs to be replaced. Now, I need to buy a resonator and go with new pipes from the resonator to my mufflers. Oh yes, the magnaflows are sweeeeeeet.

By the way, where and which resonator should I buy...?

Not sure on the lt1 but I did easily on the l98. The ac is on the passenger side with it. Did they put it on the drivers side on the lt1?

I just took my driver side off my 89 and will take the passenger side off soon. I was thinking about going with the hookers as I saw them for 650 new. What bolts did you use and did it hook up to the stock style system? For now the rest is stock, my heads are coming off for new vortex style and I figured I might as well change the headers since I have to move them at this point.

For bolts I used ARP 400-1209 3/8"x1".

I got those but for some of the holes, 1" are too short.

I just used the bolts and gaskets that came with the Hookers. That was several years ago and I have no leaks. Yes, the hooker 2149's have all the egr hook ups if you want to keep it in tact.

I agree with PLRX - the stock sized bolts (ARP-400-1201) are:

Thread Size: 3/8-16 in.
Head Style: External 12-point
Underhead Length (in): 0.750 in.
Underhead Length (mm): 19mm

but in certain cases the ARP-400-1209 are not long enough. I just used the existing factory bolts in this case otherwise I'd have had to fork over another $xx.xx to get a 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 at most sized ARP bolt.

Thread Size: 3/8-16 in.
Head Style: External 12-point
Underhead Length (in): 1.000 in.
Underhead Length (mm): 25mm
Fastener Material: Stainless steel

Shortie headers (Hookers) 1 3/4 inch diam will be worth about 7RWHP and 13 RWTQ....the Dynojet dont lie........

Good to see someone with shorties dyno number. Was that stock or with other mods.

I'd like to say thank you for the parts and advice. The headers are installled, I had to remove the catalyst converters, modified the A/C brackets and bolts but other than thoseno problems... I had no alignment issues.

Below are some pictures. Now I'm working on a MSD Pro-Billet distribitor and VBP sports suspension
