There is a fairly hilarious discussion going on in the C5 forum comparing the two newest generations. Unfortunately the C4 is taking some direct hits. :boxing Check it out at http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=192351
Reading that thread makes me want to slap stuck up C5 owners. Some seem to act as there were no Corvettes prior to the C5. If it wasn't for the C1, C2, C3, and C4 owners there would be no C5.
I guess once the C6 comes out they will be taking a bashing like the rest of us poor unfortunate pre C5 owners. :jester

I guess I will be joining both clubs soon... I plan to buy a 94,95,96 (one of them) C4... I think that a Vette is a Vette and any year Vette is better than not owning one at all... I bought my 99 used in 2000... and like it... but the C4 is cool too... with the roll of head lights and all..... :smash: :smash:
I dont plan on buying a C6 until they get the bugs out ... so thats easily 2007.... too long to wait for a second Vette... so instead of looking into the future I looked into the past!
For the most part, I've found the replies in that thread to be humorous, and not anti-C4. And the thread was started by someone comparing the C5 to a Cadillac, so I guess one shouldn't be too surprised to see some C5 owners defending their cars.
As much as I enjoy this forum, there seems to be way too much us vs. them between the generations. They are all Corvettes, and they are all deserving of respect because of that, even if a particular year or generation isn't your favorite.

yeah now they will know what the c3 owners felt like when the c4 came out and how the c4 owners felt when the c5 came out yep the newer one always seemed more stuck up oh well we gotta face some criticism

Yep, I've already heard that C6 owners will be snobs and they will no longer wave. :yesnod: :jester
I dunno, I like my C4 better.. the C5 are growing on me, but I like the clam shell hood, Jennifer Love Hewitt rear and the way you fall into the car... more race car feeling to me.
I was looking at the C5's when I bought my 95... but I'll tell ya, having no car payment on my toy is GREAT thing. Now if I waited until this zero % financing came around... then I might of found myself in a C5.
Either way. . a vette is a vette is a vette.. if your happy with yours then thats all that matters. Heck with anyone that looks down on other years.
OK..Here goes..Been trying not to comment on this but the need is here...If a C-5 had a 3000-Gt emblem on it, even if it was faster, would they be this discussion?...No disrespect to C-5 owners but that is what the car puts me in mind of...along with some of the other body styles such as stealth and eclispe...Having owned a 1976 and now a 1996..I have to say that these body styles are more reconizable to the general population as Vettes...Have been told this by non-vette owners.-BUT-Deciding to see what all the hoopla was about I went to the dealership to check out a C-5...thought maybe it would grow on me and I'd buy one??>>>>NO HAPPENING<<<<<From the time I raised the hood to the moment I sit down in it...I new this was not for me...Just did'nt have that feel of a sports car....This is only my opinion as I'm sure they will be several other's on this post, but it's C-3 or C-4 for me!!!! And at the present it's a white C-4 :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
I've owned C-1,C-2, C-3, C-4.
The C-4 is the best of the lot. The C-5 is probably better than the C-4.
But 35k is alot to spend on a car that sits most of the time. There is no return on the money.
50k is just plain stupid..........If you spend 50k just to be in then you have more money than brains.
Some C-5 owners have never owned a Corvette before? Whats up with that?
C-5's are nice but there not that nice.
C-5's will never be collector cars, except for the 02 Z06 they're genaric.
The majority of C5 owners bought the car to show their social status. That is why I cannot stand the majority of them. There is a group however that are true Corvette enthusiasts. Those are the ones that won't dump their C5 when the C6 comes out. I feel like saying something in that forum but I don't have to convince the snob owners. Nor can I. Once their lease is up they will be out of our forum. Just have patience with these people. :blueangel:

This is exatcly the kind of post that keeps things stirred up. I don't think anyone would hold it against you if you do not personally feel that a C5 is worth the money, but to claim that anyone that has bought one has more money than brains serves absolutely no purpose. You enjoy your car, and I respect that. You don't care for C5s and I respect that too. How about a little respect for the other Corvette enthusiasts on this forum in return?
I reall hate thoes C-1 cars Solid axle ........Huh. I also dislike thoes C-2's with thoes gorgious line's they have huge blind spots. And dont get me started on the C-3 Thoes big blocks make way to much power!!! Yep I cant stand the lot of them. I must be a stuck up C-4 owner :jester  :seeya
